ignore the FIRST Best Things in Life ... this is the real one

Best Things in Life - This photo was taken from Global Healing Exchange. The picture shows that even if we lack money life isn't that bad, because what is essential is free. Like, love, friends. sleep, air. We don't need to worry about no having a lot of money to spend for a holiday. A simple picnic with a family just at the backyard will do. a weekend off with the children to go to the park to fly kite is awesome. Fixing the bike together and biking after. How about fishing? In the absence of outdoors why not play charade with the kids or scrabble. Turn off the computer and have fun time watching movies with the entire family with pop corn. You can discuss this movie or the moral lesson of the movie while having dinner. This one is nice, how about videoke singing together. Let us not deprive our children of stories to tell their kids when they grow up. Let us give them the "experiences" of what life is. Simple and yet free.

Life is hard, life is difficult, life is challenging... but above all of these, still Life is Beautiful... This is so true! I think we sometimes search on all the wrong places to be happy. I cannot tell my kids stories anymore, for they are grown men. I just hope the times when they lay in bed, listening to me reading to them, will be remembered. My radio is on and the song I am listening to is from Queen " I want it all, and I want it NOW". Makes me think if 'having all' can really make a person happy? It's like you said: eating popcorn together; discussing a movie we have all watched together; and may I add, walking on the beach together, is what count in life...TOGETHERNESS with those you care about is so important...

yes. that's great... I never thought of beach because "beach" is far from our home and we need to travel hours to get there... yes TOGETHERNESS just the key. surely they have something to share with their kids too.

Hello Mavic. It is totally true that life is still beautiful without enough money to spend for a travel to some scenic spots. We may still enjoy the simple pleasure what life can bring us, the free things we get from around us, like the beautiful nature, the blue sky, the clean air, all that comes into our sight. There is no need for us to complain about so much about the so-called unfair treatment to us so long as we view the world with a beautiful thought and mind. Enjoy yourself to the full.

so right sir. no other person can bring simple pleasure to us than ourselves. and it is just right to imbibe this to the children around us. by being happy and contented we also teach simplicity to other people around us. Life could somehow be unfair, but we could just smile at it.

Thanks for this wonderful discussion. Life is certainly hard and difficult, challenging too, but if we know how to handle it properly, we can overcome all barriers easily, i have health issues mainly, no monitory problems, no problem with my kids, i am happy with what I have. About health issues i have to face; am taking my medicines injections..

Yes this is my point Professor, I am sure that even if you have health issues, you don't blame anyone for that issue instead you do something about it. make yourself healthy you don't cry over and say you are sick or something... but you fight because you are happy with you wife and kids. Little contentment in life goes a long way. I am sure if you desired to be James Bond... you will feel devastated if you don't feel well. but hey you just want to be Professor and not James bond.

What a great discussion. Really it's very necessary to enjoy life as it is.If you think life is okay, then it's okay,if you think there's no problem at all, there will be no problem. Life is indeed hard, very difficult, challenging, but if you face it without thinking twice or say if you face it with happiness, then you deserve for a beautiful life. That will not be a proble,if one don't have money. If he/she is experienced or if they want to earn something, then they can earn. But there is most important thing in life is that how should we enjoy my life.Sometimes small things can give great happiness of the world. There is also a saying in English, money can't buy happiness

thanks Hence I am happy that you enjoyed this discussion. Small things can really give great happiness in the world. Look at the new born babies... parents will be delighted to see his first smile... his first yawn... just simple things but such a great pleasure to the parents. Money can buy things for happiness but not happiness itself. Smile and the world with you.. cry and you cry alone.

Yes nice what a wonderful suggestion if it will be done by whoever lotters who has able to read and has not tried any of those mentioned. The only hindrance is when the family who will be practicing the same every week ends and if they have time to do so, Are they doing good as a family or as a person? for what matters is what have you done before the week ends? The children are very sensitive, usually they follow actions not words.

Well it takes a baby step before the toddler learn how to run. it is just the same with this. it should start from the beginning if they family is not accustomed to it yet but eventually this will be a routine but make sure that there will be different activities every time one practices it.

Thanks for this! It really helps me lighten up a bit. You're right, life is beautiful. Life is a mess but a beautiful mess indeed. Just like the song goes, 'it's not about the money, money, money'. Our happiness merely depends on our attitude towards life. The more we accept and see things in a positive way, the more possibility that we'll live a happy life. So let's learn to appreciate those little things that make us happy because it may have big impact later on. I'll keep this in mind. Hapyp myLotting! :)

Nice topic. It is not necessary that only those who do not have money should for these kind of activities. In fact it is these little things that bring joy to everyone. I get a lot of happiness when I see a bud on my new plant, when my pet brings the ball when I ask her to, when those who help me with my daily chores turn up on time, when my cake turns out perfect, when I get a call from a long lost friend, when I get to respond to topics here like this one...............the list is endless Mavic.....

I agree... but you were sick because you were not happy, you need medicine to sustain you.. but when you were happy I am not sure you will feel sickness at all. Some people will be diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and already counting days? hmmmm .. then people who know this person will say "she's very well, how come we didn't know she has cancer".... Yes, she was happy so the little pains she felt, were vanished by happiness and contentment. If a person is a grumpy and looking for attention or self seeking one, and not happy even a simple paper cut will bleed profusely. She rants and blames on the paper for the cut. A happy and contented person doesn't feel much pain.

That's very true, happiness is just from anything you do or everywhere if would look into the bright side of life. Me and the rest of my gang(my family), usually stays up late at night on weekends just talking about anything, from our neighbors to our childhood experiences. Sometimes we gathered our neighbor's kids in our house to watch horror movies and shout so loud like we don't care. We also cook choco porridge and share them with kids and have some good laughs. Life is just simply happy, all we have to do is start smiling.
