Hi all,
My beautiful son, is 16 months. He's completely off the bottle since age one. But, he needs his Binky at night to go to sleep. He wakes up crying for it. But during the day, he doesn't want it at all.
How can I get him to fall asleep without it? Any advice?

I did things the harder way I guess. I told all of my kids that the Binky went bye bye because they are too big for it...Once they hit a certain age, I tell them no now your 2 (for example) big boys/girls don't need that anymore at that age.
I threw it in the trash, they cried for a few nights and got over it. Crying doesn't hurt them and once they realized they were not going to get it back and I was not giving in they got over it...
It might sound a little mean but I didn't want to baby them over it because I think it would have taken twice as long.

My oldest was excited to be a "big girl" so she threw her own binky away. =) She was the easiest one!

I never got any of mine started on it.. why start a habit you'll have to break later? I say just take it away and deal with the few rough nights until he starts getting used to not having it.

I never got my other children on the Binky either, but with this baby the Pediatrician actually recommended it because he was colicky and it would help soothe him. So, this is very new to me. Thanks for your response... I will definitely try a little tough love tonight.

I have been telling my daughter, agae 2, that big girls dont use a binky. Big girls sleep in their big girl beds when all lights are off and sleep. And give her a teddy bear or a blankie for her to hug on. Just keep telling him big boys dont use a binky.

Well we started reading to my daughter at night to when she went to bed it helped to get to forget about the binky and we did cold turkey to a few hours of crying till she tired herself out and that did for sure and we tell her when she does ask for one that the squeals took them.
