I went on a search for a homemade cleaning solution for my silver ankle bracelet. I didn't want to pay for cleaning it nor did I want to spend any money either. About.com has a wealth of information so I gave it a try.
This solution is simple to make and even simiplier to use. Boil a small amount of water in a pot, add baking powder with a dash of salt, put in a piece of aluminum foil, shiny side up. Put your silver items in the foil and simmer until the foil turns black. But, make sure that the jewelry is completely covered by the foil and water. Take out and rinse. My ankle brackets looks brand new. The chemical reaction cleans the items but be careful with the pot because it can cause discoloration. I used a glass pot and had to scrub it out.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well yes i was aware of this technique and infact this is the best way of cleaning silver jewellery at home without spending a single penny. i know this knowledge would be helpful for many as many people find it difficult to take the stains off the silver jewellery.
What say?
