10. Watch your privacy settings.
-There are quite some considerable number of people or users in the virtual community that takes this for granted. The internet is a WHOLE NEW WORLD/ENTITY, and for that matter all information of you - especially those that you would not want to share to the public - might be in a risk of being distributed, because this so called "international network" is fast growing and there's nothing you can do if your scandalous photos are already 9-GAGed. Social networks offer privacy settings that might keep you at ease, keep track of them, check and learn what those settings do.
9. It's not always about the gadget's LOGO.
-Technology is bursting out from every manufacturing name at different prices. Like all normal notions, all extra expensive gadgets are BETTER. But hold your horses! Know that technology doesn't have to be wallet draining! Know that YOU DO NOT NEED TO BUY THE BRAND NAME. There are other products - reliable, of course - that offers more or almost on the same level as those with top notched brands offered in the market today. Try something else, be wise!
8. Keep your PC clean.
-If your PC desktop right now looks like Hiroshima 2 hours after the bombing, then you might want to consider clearing it. Cluttered things - just like your room - mean to have a very bad impact with regards to a persons habit and health issue. A cleaner and organized surrounding would not just help you keep track of the things you have/filed but would also make you feel more COMFORTABLE, whether it's your work space, room, or any other place else that which might need or that involves the probability of relaxing, analyzing, focus and decision making.
7. Avoid getting viruses - and spreading them to others.
-Viruses and other Malwares are the most common enemy of any netizen. The only thing that bridges viruses and a PC is the unknowledgeable user about how these things work. For most, the good choice is getting the best anti virus program. But a better defense of your PC is yourself, search around and know what VIRUSES really are, know how they are acquired, how they are spread - and of course, the extent of damage it can do.
6. Think twice before connecting to a public unsecured Wifi.
-I know, it's really tempting, especially when are desperate. But, it doesn't take a networking genius to get you private credentials when you log into any hub/network. All it takes is a little bit of click and search for connections and wala! Security breach! (I know a program that logs all connected network's activity; accounts, passwords, bankAccount, ALL)
5. Be smart about hoaxes, spams and myths.
-You won 5 billion dollars! (Does this ring a bell?) Over 65% of my old email's inbox is bombarded with these spams. It was my mistake to ever sign up for that HOROSCOPE reading thingy. Lesson learn - do not trust pop-up ads!
Now, I'm sure you have encountered this kind of hoax, it's quite common, I don't know if anyone falls for these anymore. Not in this decade. This is so... windowsME old.
4. Know how to maintain your computer.
-Everything is wear and tear - no exception. You should know when your computer is starting to hiccup when opening programs. There are maintenance tools scattered all over the internet, and again - choose WISELY, some don't really help, some can turn the condition even more complicated that can lead to hard disk reformating to get back your PC's healthy performance. Defragmenting files would really help, and of course keeping in mind the 10th thing to keep-habit. (the #10 above.)
3. Use HIGH security passwords.
-New sign-up features won't allow weak passwords such as: qwerty, 12345, asdf, password-is-also-your-account-name, and etc. (What can be more terrific than those?). So anyway, keeping track of your privacy is USELESS unless you give yourself a good security.
2. Back up your files.
-You cannot avoid viruses, hacks, and other risk in the internet. Sooner or later, by any means - there will come a time that your computer will break. You can be vigilant from these things by backing up your files either online and portable devices. And start now, you'll be glad you did.
1. Use google like a PRO.
-We pretty much do everything with google. We ask everything from google. So, do you know how to simplify queries? Search google tricks now.
(there might be some typos.. I'm in a hurry. You need to keep these things in mind!)
