So I go to dinner with my aunt. But we don't talk much. she is too busy chatting with her friends in Facebook, commenting, playing games etc. Its like internet has sucked the life out of our relationship. I remember a time before she bought the i pad, when we actually talked. It was fun going to dinner then, but now I'd rather stay home. What do you think, has the internet stolen our happiness?

People who used to say that internet stole their happiness are actually using the internet too much :p. Or maybe their relatives are.
Don't blame the internet, blame the people. If ever appears something that also interesting, some people might get addicted with that as well.

The answer to the question lies in very basic idea and notion, that the "overuse of anything is certainly harmuful." The same is the matter with your aunt who is in the habit of overuse of the internet and hence is having bad consequence as it is disturbing the relationship. The facebook, internet and all these wonderful stuffs are only wonderful provided that their limit is not exceeded. For the problem of these types to be sorted, the oversurfing person should be convinced about the problems that arises due to the overuse of internet .

Exactly.
People nowadays even if they are living under one roof they prefer to talk through internet.
I have this same experience with my kids.
They are in their room and I am in our living and we are chatting through facebook- lols.
Sounds funny- and then we all just laughing...

In some sort, a newbie in the gadget and techy world would be blinded by the material the internet has possesses in such devices. This in a way gives transition that people would opt to go over internet activity rather than putting some life on offline activities.
However, one can correct such habits, like telling them that online and offline are two different worlds and such should put weigh in terms of activities. In that way, one is capable in pulling off responsible usage of the internet without sacrificing their happiness.

I think the internet has stolen my time, the time should be used for study, research, work and sharing with family members. But also the internet brings me a chance to play online games, make online friends and getting information quickly from other parts of the world.
While to the haqppiness, I am not sure. It depends on how you define your happiness. Many young people think playing online games is happiness, to them, internet does not stolen their happiness. While to the elder people, they consider spending time with their family members is a kind of happiness, in that way,m internet really bring their happiness away.

I do feel that it has stolen a lot of peoples happiness and I feel that there are a lot of people that spend all the time that they can on the internet and that it can mess up peoples relationships with other people.
I use to hate it when people come to see me or were our some where and they would be forever on face book using their phones to get to the site, I found it a waste of time seeing the person.

You can say that, but internet also gives us happiness. Everything has two sides, good side and bad side. If we don't have internet, we sure have more time to spend with our family and friends, we will have fun to talk together, to shop together, to play together. But at the same time, it will also bring us much unconvenience.

It depends in handling your time with the internet, I did change for sure when I started to have an internet connection. At first I spend lots of my time in front of the computer that I even skip meals, but from time to time it will surely change a bit, you will start feeling bored from it and that will make your time in the internet lesser. I think your aunt is having the same situation, just let her enjoy her time maybe because she is chatting with her long lost friend.
