I heard a couple of co - workers discussed, the credit card use subcharge is taking effect on this weekend. So, if you used your credit card on any of the purchase at any of those stores, they might impose 4% of credit card subchage on the items you buy. Definitely, not everyone gonna like it though. But think about it, it is also another way to encourage us to use cash or debit card more often instead of borrowing money. By doing this, we know how much we are limited to use, and we have better control of our shopping habit. In merchant's side, if they adopt such policy in their stores, it might also affect their business deeply, don't you think?

After I had my debit card for awhile, I decided to be modern and use it on a trip to a town an hour away. I used it twice at gas stations and once at McDonalds...and I later found out that they charged me a dollar on each transaction, for a total of $3.00 extra dollars charged to my account that day. So much for being modern!

Heard about this on the news. Wonder when people will start paying attention to it? It will most definitely affect businesses, so maybe merchants will encourage their customers to pay via debit, if not, cash.

I think it is nice move. we the customers will be discourage of further using credit cards and we can save extra money on interest charges. On the part of the store it may also be advantageous for them by so doing they can earn extra money to cover charges anyway their are people who love really shopping using credit cards.

I was charge a dollar a transaction the first day I used my debit card for other than online shopping-and I did three transactions that day, so I was charged $3.00. I will only use it for online shopping from now on.
