Good morning people.
Hope everyone are doing well and having a great day so far.
Do you wear earphones or headphones while walking in the public?
I have notice now that there are lots of people walking now with their earphones or headphones.Every time I am going in the nearby mall in the office during lunch,I always see those people walking with their earphones since cellphones now do have music player as well.I could even hear what there listening into when I am beside or behind them in a line. Some uses also used it into talking into someone so you could see them talking while walking.
There are also some who have earphones while talking to someone, maybe they do turn it off or they are reducing the volume.
I don't used to wear my earphones listening into music while walking in the public.Maybe I am really not used to it like them.I just wonder if they could listen sounds around them in public like if someone is calling them or sounds of vehicle horn, especially those people who listen into music in loud volume.
Well that's life, we all have our own trips in life that we have to respect.
Have blessed day ahead of us.

i think it's can be a life style for some peoples, or it's also a way to enjoy their days. we can't say is outrageous or so. because they have the right to express them selves as long as it does not disturb common people.

If someone wants to be oblivious to their surroundings, they certainly do have that right. But the key here is "as long as it does not disturb common people". When I can hear their music through their earphones or they walk into me because they're rocking out and not paying attention, then I take exception.

Yeah we all have the right to express ourselves and do things that we have as long as it won't hurt any people at all and we have to respect it.But there are some exceptions like what if the person with earphones while walking in public accidentally fall something then a person is calling him/her about it yet they don't hear it at all.

Some people can't live without music. It relaxes them.
But I think some people just do that for looks and to look cool, which is really stupid. Besides, it's not good to set the music to high volume, it can cause deafness and it can distract people from their activities. Maybe if someone calls out to them to warn them of something then they wouldn't be able to hear.

I'm one of those who can't live without music ._ What they're wearing are odd and usually large, and seems to me they're pretending to be DJ's or something. For me, music is for the soul not fashion.
And I also agree that earphones, especially high volume does cause deafness. Even with low volume, as long as there's consistent sounds, around 4 hours straight a day, every day in a week, can also cause deafness in a few months.
Though there is this kind of earphone that doesn't look like a plug but looks like a button. (I don't know what it's called but...)Unlike the one with the plug, it doesn't block the sounds outside. I recommend that people should use this so they will still be able to hear warnings.
Still, people should keep using earphones in moderation. There should be limits to wearing them such as when they're on streets or somewhere else that attention is necessary.

I am one of the people who cant live a day without any music at all.I used to have background music while working in the office. But I never tried to listen to music with earphones while walking in the public. It quite be dangerous especially if the volume is quite high and you dont hear any sounds around expect what is playing in your headphones. For me its not quite advisable.

I listen to music through headphones but I have volume low enough so I can hear it. In fact the cars and traffic is so loud when I get on the main street, that I would have to turn the volume up full blast to hear the music over the traffic. And besides, if I could go without the headphones and listen to the music and everyone else hears it, maybe they do not like classical or opera. Just as I do not like to hear rap. Of course, we can hear the sounds around us. It would be crazy to use sound cancelling headphones, and when we talk to someone, we turn off the volume or take off the headphones.
Of course, that leads to a problem, the ipod or player might drop to the ground.

That is true. Most of my friends are driving cars and when I hear their honk they have already gone. I really believe you can hear sounds around you even with the earphones on. I would not use a headphone when walking. Do not like people asking questions as why I have them on.

Music makes everything in life better in my opinion and would definitely make walks to work or even just doing errands around town much more enjoyable. I really love listening to music while walking in between places because then I have something to keep me entertained. Music can help us with things that seem menial like just walking to work or something like that.
I used to listen to my music really loud when I had an ipod and I could hear everything just fine around me. I also like to wear my headphones when I'm playing basketball or running. Music helps to give you some extra motivation while you are working out.

I do believe too that music has a big part in our lives. I am also a music lover and cant end a day with listening to music. I always have music while working in the office. There are lots of ways to make music so useful but used properly.
Good thing that you can still manage to hear sounds around you while listening to music in loud volume. Just be careful not to cause any bad effect in your ears.

Hi Ardoy :)
I also listen with my earphone while riding the bus or walking out in public like the streets or mall. But since I'm paranoid to holdups and getting hit by a car, I always keep them in minimal volume and one ear without the buds. I only wear them both when I'm in a vehicle (usually bus, but sometimes jeep)during commute so I won't be bored doing nothing, and also I won't fall asleep. I guess I'm addicted to earphones because before, I can't listen to the genre I like since my mother is strict against music that makes her head ache. So since earphones won't bother her, that's how I listen to music.
Like most of the comments, I believe that it is rude to wear earphones with loud volumes. And much more, those that do it at places that needs people to focus and alert like the streets. And also when there's someone talking.
Apart from that, people who use them just for accessory is annoying. Especially those that pretends to be DJ's with their large uncomfortable headphones. Earphones with different colors are okay with me since they're fairly visible, it's important to match it so you won't look funny with colors that don't harmonize with what you wear. But for me, I really have a weird dislike to large headphones.

Haha xD I'm glad I found someone who has the same taste.
Yes, I agree with you, listening to music should be done at the right situations. Even though you wear just one earphone, still keep volume minimal okay?

Yeah we really to be aware in our surroundings especially in public places wherein anything can happened. We should really be alert in people around us. I guess I could try just one earphone so I could still hear anything goes around me. Music is really entertaining in so many ways just use it right and properly. I also dislike seeing people wearing too big headphones, maybe I am into that style lol.

People who listen to earphones while walking, gets hit by a car or falls down the stairs... But not all the times. May they be safe.
I do this sometimes but only when I'm at home and I am on a flat surface. My sister does this a lot more than me and I always do worry for her safety.

Very true. We need to have all our senses specially when we are outdoors on the roads. Plus it's not good to wear earphones all the time. We should interact with other people instead of shutting ourselves from the world.

Yes quite dangerous in the extent that they are unaware in their surrounding cause their are too occupied with the loud music in their ears while walking in the public. For me it will not be advisable to wear earphones while walking in public places for safety reason.

It is quite a fad nowadays especially with the younger generations and they are made expensive and stylish too. Some just wear it around as part of the get-up and accessories right?
I use to like to wear earphones when i was using my walkman, that was ions ago, that does make look so old now?hehehehe!
My eardrum was damaged the right side because of too loud volume and i regret it now because i could not hear more clearly now, im short of deaf.

Yes for some it is just for accessories or style that they just wear to suit their get up for the day. We really have to take care of our ears so dont let it hear too loud volume of sounds that might cause damage in the end.

I don't. It's actually dangerous especially if you're out on the streets. You won't know if a car or someone on a bike is near because you won't hear anything. It's also rude to talk to people with earphones on. I usually just listen to music when I'm in a silent place for a louder and clearer effect of the songs.

Well I use my earphones to listen into music when I an alone or when I am at home. Lying in the sofa or just in the terrace drinking coffee and just listening into the music, enjoying the melody and understanding the lyrics of it. I never tried to wear earphones while walking in public places so far. There a certain incident in the office that I wore earphones cause I got annoyed with someone and I dont wanted to hear his voice lol.

i do find it rude sometimes. i have my own set of earphones too but i only use it when i want to listen to music or i want to talk to someone using earphones without putting my phone near my ear..
i find it rude like when i am talking to someone and she still keeps it in her ear, often times i do tell if it is turned on or not because she is half listening to what i am saying which is plainly rude.

I do it sometimes but when I am in a surrounding that is a little bit safe. I nearly got hit on the road one time because of it so I don't listen it where vehicles can drive. The driver was blowing me from way out, and I didn't hear a thing. But he assumed I heard so he didn't slow down, when he came close. He realized there was something in my ears and quickly slammed on the brakes. Even then I was clueless of what was actually going on. Then you ever have the sense that something is close to you. Then is when I look around to see the car about 3 inches away from my pants. It was so close. My heart jump when I notice what happened. The man cussed me for my puerile behavior but I think I deserved it.
You should know though, that nowadays headphones and earphones are apart of fashion. Some people wear different colours to match their garments. Like I have a red earphone that I always wear when I am wearing my red shoes. I also have a black head phone that I always wear when I am wearing black. Head phones stand out more because they are bigger so, sometimes I prefer to wear those.

I see some of them in the gym, almost anywhere. I think the message is this,"Don't talk to me." It is an anti-social gadget because it shuts you off from the rest of the world. Can't they use that when they want to study in the library or in their room? I think it is also rude to be wearing that when there are people around because it means you don't want to be disturbed nor talked to.

I hope you don't see everyone who wear earphones are shoving people away since I'm sure not all of them wants to block the world away. I for one only wear them for enjoyment since I can't spend a day without hearing music. Since for others it's a bother to play music out loud where everyone hears but doesn't like that genre, I prefer playing music through earphones since not everyone finds my taste appealing.
I do wish I was never thought of anti-social when I was at school because whenever I walk to and from class I wear earphones and play music with a fast pace so that I can walk faster. O_O Maybe that's why some people think I'm shy...I'm just an awkward penguin :(

Yeah there are many people in different places that used to be like that. I guess some are to be alone, not to be disturb, anti social for the views of others that we have to respect. People who used to do that should also be aware about the people around them and with their surroundings as well.

Yes most of the time, I put my earphones on even when I'm walking in the public. I find it amazing. You know, watching the environment and the people around you while listening to music. It kinda soothes me and from what I've noticed most of my friends do the same thing. But in my case, I don't really turn the volume up in the maximum level because I'm afraid I might not able to hear something important..
Have a good day too!!! :)

Yeah I notice that many people now are like that, walking while wearing their earphones, I wonder if it is on or off.. don't know at all.I hear some since the volume is quite loud.
Good thing that you are playing it in just exact volume wherein you can still hear sounds and what's happening around you cause it might be dangerous if you can't hear anything around at all.

As far as I know, some people still wear their earphones even if it's turned off just to make themselves look cool. A lot of people do that spice up their appearance.
Yes, that's what I put in mind all the time. Not just because I might not hear something important but also because I'm afraid I might damage my ears.

I have ever used earphones while I was walking. But, seldom. I used earphone while walking in public, because I need to memorize the lyric of a song that would be performed in an event. I am a musician, but I don't like to use earphone while I am walking, even in my bedroom. I just use the earphone for listening a song to be memorized.

Nice to know that you are a musician and good thing that you use it in memorizing a song. Listening into a certain song repeatedly could really help a lot to memorize the lyrics of it. What a nice way to use a certain thing in a very useful way.

Hi,ardoy~
Used to do it a lot. Now you mention it, I actually miss that feeling. Acting like I don't care and just enjoy my own little world with music. It feels good. I try to keep the volume down though, knowing it's unhealthy to subject the ears to loud volume.
I don't do it often now. But sometimes I do hum.
I still feel it being a little strange when people talk on earphones with people. Sometimes you think they're talking to you, and then you realize that's not the case at all.
It's probably better to listen to the nature. But then again, in big cities, you hear car horns more often than anything(at least that's the case in my country). So, I'd rather listen to music.
Have a nice day~

I think it will be okay as long as the volume is just exact and you can still hear sounds around you at the same time you will not hurt or damage your ears.
I did have an experienced in fast food wherein the one behind me the line is keep on talking wherein I thought he was referring to me.When I looked back at hime, I saw that he was talking with someone via his earphone.

Well, to be honest, just a person who walks with the headphones and the music of his mobile phone, he lives in my house. It is in fact my younger brother.
It is a great phone, he will put a huge amount of songs. Often when he comes out even has a pair of headphones as a DJ that wears down the street listening to music.
My opinion, however, is a bit inconsistent with this habit. On the way there are dangers such as road crossings, there are car horns to hear.
In the city, excluding us from the noise, even by a sudden alarm, in my opinion, it is wrong, and sometimes even dangerous!

I also believe that may cause danger too as you have said especially to those who really listen to music in a very loud volume wherein other people could also hear what they are listening to. People should be aware with their surroundings especially in public places cause we cant never tell whats might happened.

I used to do it everyday, putting the volume up with the earphones plugged on my ears while outside going to work. And it is really dangerous I must say. I could not hear the horns and friends calling me. I've lessened doing that, although sometimes I still do listen to music while going to work.

Well its really quite dangerous while walking in public places since you could not hear whats going on around you just like what you uave said that what I someone is calling you yet you can hear them. I guess if you cant take away that habit, better just put its volume in just exact manner where you can still hear an recognize sounds around you.

that is just a type of style that people put headphones in there ear and walk on streets.............. And they are do aware that we should not do that bcoz while walking on the road they will not get to know about any locomotive thing but that just for a style to show others that they are smart..... and that makes the cause of accident........

Its really look stylish since headphones and earphones now are fashionable and many nice designs to choose for. Somehow it could be dangerous as you have said cause it my lead to accident. There are lots of here as well. All do have their reasons as you have said. For style, wanted to listen their favorites song or to feel just alone and dont wanted to be disturb. But still there some dangers that it may cause that we have to consider.
