School closed, cancelled appointments, and no freezing rain

My children's school called me today at 10 am to pick the kids up at 12pm as the school was being closed due to a massive storm with freezing rain. I then cancelled an appointment for my son because I did not want to take him out in this horrible storm that was being predicted. I mean my school rarely shuts down for weather, I think in the 6 years my children have been attending they have had 1 snow day. So I prepare to have this horrible weather, pick my kids up and there was no storm! I guess it is a good thing that the school was taking precautions but it kind of wasted my day off. Has anyone ever had this happen? Isn't it frustrating?

"Make hay while the sun shines" and in this case you can take it literally!
Children were destined to have a good time. A once in a way bonanza. Hope you organise something for them.

yes, this has happened to me. i felt like i could have been doing something more better with my time. once i thought i had three appointments back to back. i don't drive. i take public transportation. it took my 1 hour to get to the place i had to get to only to find out that all my appointment had been closed. so half my morning was wasted. i was mad. i know the kids were glad to have a day off , though

I don't drive myself and take public transportation as well, so I know how frustrating that could be to have your appointments cancelled after traveling there! At least I didn't go to the appointment to find out it was cancelled. The kids did enjoy the break in routine and the afternoon off!

it is cool and the mood and flavor we get is interesting ideally because we can enjoy the day and sleep a lot
