Though I can't say it's the best console of its generation, PS 2 had several of my favorite games and the end of its production means goodbye.
It has probably hundred thousand games. For more than 10 years that we had this game console, I think it will be a sad goodbye since this would also mean no more new games will be produced for this console. :'(
What do you feel about this?

The PS2 was a great console with lots of great consoles. It being produced untill now despite the release of it's replacement shows that it's a quality system.I still regularly play my large collection of PS2 games.Though to be honest a big part of me keeping the console was not being able to play my old PS2 games on my PS3 and I would suspect thats the reason for such a large number of PS2 sales after the release of the PS3.

I guess you're right, since ps3 was released, seems that people would no longer hold on to sell ps2. And I agree that ps2 have good quality. We have been playing the console for years now and it still runs smoothly.
I'm glad you enthusiastically collected games and still play them.

I bought PS2 6 months ago. I'm afraid it's gonna be hard to get another if something happenes to it. There's no point to make a new games for such an old system even tho some enthusiasts still release new games for Dreamcast and Mega Drive. But I think they were still early with retirement of PS2 because it still sells well.

I think I should save up to buy a ps2 console again too, just in case the old one crashes.
It's still sad, the console was great and I agree that it really did retired too early.

I preferred the playstation over the PS2. Not to say that there isn't a lot of RPG's worth playing for the PS2, but it for some reason didn't live up to my expectations. It's still a great system, but it's getting a bit.. beyond outdated. Plus, this gives them more time to focus on the PS3 market which means potential price drops for that console.
