Can silent mode of mobile works sometimes

Can keeping your mobile on silent mode can save you as we see in many movies heroine got caught in a glitch is caught by bad guys when she is hiding because her mobile rings all of a sudden.
Have you experienced such thing?

I don't put my phone on silence, I better put it on vibration. Although, there are sometimes you just have to either switch off your phone or put it on silence. Films are always like that, in some films a ringing phone can cause distraction while in some other it can cause trouble. Personally, I prefer to put my phone on vibration than to silence it!

haha oh wow this is funny (not to offend kind of funny). i just remember what or how many movies i have seen that has had this happened and they get into trouble because of the ring, or vibrate. :D
i think it happened to me but in meetings only so it wasnt really saving my life, but only just geetting myself into a trouble (bad look from people in the meeting) haha
