I went to a vascular surgeon today because of the plaque buildup in my corodid artery. Of course he said I have to quit smoking but also said he knows how hard it is to quit. We talked about different methods I've tried and was not successful at. Then he told me to take 4 cigarettes out of my pack today and 5 tomorrow and so on until I was leaving myself only one for the day. Personally, I don't think it will work. I'm very stubborn and even though it's not good for me I'm addicted to nicotine and he agreed. He also mentioned ecigarttes which I'm planning to try once I get my check. Has your dr ever given you advice that you tried but it didn't work? Has your dr ever given you advice tht worked?

Go spend some time with people who have dementia. That very likely is your future if you don't succumb to some other smoking-related health issue first. Smoking significantly increases one's risk of developing dementia; a poor diet is also a contributing factor. You can stop smoking. If you tell yourself that you can, you will. However, you keep going in saying that things won't work. Whenever you get the urge to smoke, post a discussion on myLot instead. It's better for your health, and it is better for your budget.

The sad thing is that nicotine is addictive. I smoke too. I know about the dangers. I know about the risks. I know I've shortened my life by 50 years by now. I know the horror stories. And I damn sure know the costs! But you know what? When I am ready, I will quit. But until then, it ain't gonna happen. I always get asked by doctors and dentists about smoking. And I tell them yes, I do and they can't tell me anything I don't already know, so save the lectures and the advice.
