Due to some anxiety problems, my doctor took me out of work yesterday for 3 weeks.
Today we're having a blizzard. It apparently started very suddenly. My older 3 kids, who leave at 7am, went to school no problem. Shortly before 8 we discovered the younger kids, whose bus comes at 8:20, would have a delay, and there'd be no morning preschool.
This may have caused a hiccup in our day. I should have been at work at 8:45. On a normal day I get the boys on the bus and leave immediately after, getting there just in time.
Today, if I were working, either me or hubby would have to go in late, while the other dropped the preschooler off at daycare (where normally he just goes in the afternoon).
Just now we got the alert (we get them sent to our cellphones) that the elementary school is now closed for the day due to the weather.
I don't have any back up plans for the 6 year old because usually if there is no school then the 15 year old is home with him. But the 15 year old is already in school.. and no word yet if they'll be released early.
I'm just thinking here.. I can't imagine the stress I'd be feeling if I had to work today. Being the first, and a Friday, neither hubby or I could have called in. I work in a bank which is short staffed, and hubby works in a rent to own place where he takes payments and does collections.. since most of his customers are getting paid today, he has to be there as it will be a busy day.
As it turns out.. I'm home, and my boss knew yesterday that I would be so they could make arrangements for coverage today. No stress on me this morning!
I just can't help but to think how perfectly this worked out. If I hadn't been taken out of work yesterday, I'd be a basket case today. Instead, I'm quite calm.. and actually decided long before they closed the school that my 6 year old should stay home anyway due to the cold and snow.
Have things ever timed themselves perfectly for you?

Glad to know that you had a good first of the month. And by 'good' I mean stress-free day in spite of the anxiety troubles that you're going through.
So, are you off for 3 weeks?
If so, follow doctor's orders, and relax. I know that having lots of things on the go, and having children around could prove difficult in trying to relax, but I do hope you do.
Get well.

Technically I am out for 3 weeks.. but I'm not sure I'll be going back. I think I'm burned out :( Feeling guilty as heck about it.. but I'm thinking it might be better to wait until next year when all the kids are in full-day school and go for something part-time which isn't as demanding or stressful.

I'm sure between here and Gather you've seen it.. just had a bad day at work preceeded by many other bad days and too much stress. I got yelled at last week and just wanted to quit.. the whole thing threw me into a severe anxiety attack that lasted about 24 hours.

I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling your best right now. I've been off myLot for a bit so I'm not up to date with what has been happening in your world, but I hope this time off work is what you need.
It sounds like an absolute godsend this morning that you were home. What would you have done otherwise? I can't imagine you can take them along to the bank with you.
We had really heavy snow just after the storm a week or so ago that I wrote about. My kids got sent home from school too. Thankfully it didn't last long, and I hope yours doesn't either.

Either me or my husband would have had to call in.. and calling in causes me ridiculous stress and anxiety, especially considering it was the 1st of the month so the bank would have been busy.

They probably have but I cannot remeber just at this moment. But I am so happy that today worked out well for you as you need the rest and 'awayness' from the bank and you have your baby safe and sound with you. I am praying hard for you to get a job close to home. enjoy the day without any stress. when I think f what I went through with my bss and no, it wasn't worth what it did to me. Take care!

I'm going to enjoy the time off right now.. take care of the kids and home, and figure out my next career move in the fall after they're all back in full day school.

yes it did.
I was given a month paid time off due to a conflict in my scholastic records.
I had to fix it and have it arranged or else my employment will be jeopardized.
Apparently, I took it as a blessing in disguise, instead of worrying; firstly, I get to spend time with my 3-month young daughter and be paid at the same time.
It was a real perfect timing because it was Christmas and New year season, that's why for me, the best reward is the blessing of time.
Unpleasant things may happen to us but it depends on how we handle it.
If we take it positively, and rely on our strong faith, then God will
work his little wonders for us.
Now I am back to work, enjoying my day to day shift, Refreshed and thankful. :)

Sometimes, things do manage to work out like that. I've had those times where something just seemed to drop into place and keep me from having some major headache that would have arisen otherwise. I just wish that it would happen more often...
