Have you every kept money somewhere and lost track of it?

I found some dollars unexpectedly some years back. I was unpacking my things that came in a sea-freight container which came few months following my overseas move. In one of the boxes containing books I found few hundred dollars inside the cover of a book. I had forgotten by then that I won some cash gifts in one of the ruffle at my work few years before that and I must have left the prize inside the book which was distributed to all employees at the occasion. Felt really nice when I saw it.

It's funny you should post this because I found $100 just a couple of days ago. I had been given a per diem for a marching band trip in college and decided to keep the cash in a safe place in case of emergencies. Now is when I need it the most so it was great to find it!

Yes I've had this happen to me many times. I once last money in my pocket and then in an older wallet that I found like years later with a $20's in it.

I am forgetful so expect that I always forget where I put my wallet, my cellphone, my money and all. There are times that I know I still have some amount but couldn't find it at that moment, I'll forget about it. I said i will just find it if I need it. Which happens most of the time. Ha ha ha, well i can understand your case and i think it is very much common with most of the people who keep their money here and there and yet forget where they had kept it. So i think since money is precious u should not place it here and there otherwise u would face difficulty while searching them. What say?

Yeah, happen so often to me. Usually when I cleaned up things, I find out that there is money in the place I haven't expected. Like among my cd case, in an old bag, or even in my notebook. I have to learn not to be too careless. But it can be a very nice surprise if I find it when I need money for something and not hold any cash. Sometimes it kind of feel like treasure hunting, don't you think?

I hsve done that many times. Probably the most memorable was when I was getting things together for a yard sale. My sister thought it was a good idea to go through all the purses to make sure they were empty. I thought it was a waste of time but it turns out i had hid $400.00 in one of them. I totally forgot about it. Just think what a great deal the buyer of that purse would have gotten! the purse was going for $0.25.

yes I have done that and then weeks later I remembered..then sometimes I forgot where I put it and found a year later..that was alful...I now try to keep a note of what I have done...and hope not to lose it LOL.. happens to all of us I guess sometime or another...

Happened to me several times. You know how it is with girls. Sometimes you have so many purses you just forget to clear them out. The largest amount I found would be 50RMB (around $8). I wish I could find as much as you did though. It would be super surprising.

Yes I have as well. I recently forgot about 40 dollars in my drawer at my boyfriend's apartment. It is nice because I can use that money now and can delay going to the Atm. I once found 10 dollars inside my jacket. I had put it into my pocket and there was a hole in the pocket so the money went into the lining of the jacket and I did not find it for months. I never found anything near a thousand dollars however. I would be super happy if I were you.

I can't say that I forget where I put money. Every dime I make is already assigned to a bill. Thats called making just enough to get buy. Oh, if I could be so lucky to find a nice chunk of money hiding somewhere. I already have a shopping list ready!

Yes, I know exactly how you must have felt. I found an envelope with $25.oo and was so thrilled. I can imagine how you must have felt when you found $1000.00.I've also hidden money from my kids in an envelope, and months later some of it was gone. I felt angry, scolded the child and found a new hiding place. There is so much that can happen when you try to hide your money. Oh well, as long as the house doesn't burn down, I'll have to stop worrying about it.

No that has never happened with me as i keep a track of my money and care for it more that i do for anything else. But finding money that you have forgotten would be like getting money as a surprise gift. What you say...

I have this problem sometimes too. Sometimes i hide my money from me, to not see them and to keep them until I'll have something useful to buy with them, because if I see them..Well..temptation is everywhere in usefulness cute things xD. But sometimes, when i take my purse to shopping with parents, I forgot in it money [ not intentionally] and then I go back to home, I go to home, I take the purse down put it in my drawer and not taking it outside until the next shopping day or until I go in town with friends. And when I take it the second time, I'm finding my money . Sometimes I forget from where I've put the money in it and makes me think that it's a ''magical'' bag -hehe-.

I used to hide some money on books when I was younger, but my brothers would usually find my hidden stash. Now I keep a piggy bank and since I am alone, no one gets to touch it. It's nice to have something set aside and then forget about it because once you need money, you don't have to go to the extremes of borrowing money from people. It's good that you know how to save! How I wish many of the younger generation knows how to.

Hi, Yes this happens with me too, I forget the thing or money which I keep and search for a long, sometimes i fail in that and after my necessary to do and finish and also after some days or something I will the get the same money I kept. Sometimes it is that from hall i think something and go to kitchen to pick it by reaching kitchen i forget for what purpose I have come, again I will go to the hall then i remember I have gone for this or that to have it.

Oh yes I have. It is quite a bit, about few hundreds. That was last year. I am still scratching my head where it is. Painful experience. Where I thought I had put it, it is no longer there. Either it has legs or my memory is failing. Both ways, my loss.

I am not fond of keeping money somewhere else but during my laundry time, I can see some coins even 20 to 50 peso bill in my pants pockets. So happy. lol. Sometimes in the pocket of my bags too. I have there money and it felt good that when the time comes that my budget is running out then I discover those money in different pockets. lol.

I do too!! but I love it when I find those things unexpectedly.its as if I gave myself a present and it feels so good and I can't help but smile to myself when I see It. I just gave myself extra money yay!

Lucky for you to open your organizer, sometimes it also happened to me for I have more I used to placed money on any part of my trousers on the shelves usually those not in used.
