Overshadowed by a friend?

This was a while back, but I recall in high school I used to hang out with this girl. This girl that was much prettier than I was. Our relationship was fine until that day I realized that I was in the shadow whenever I was with her. Our friends greet and talk to her more, guys show her more attention, teachers love her, her luck in getting a good-paying job (at that age we were 14-15 and her aunt recommended her) at a medical office. I was near invisible whenever I stand next to her, yet we shared everything and was so close together. It was hard not to be jealous. Eventually, my feelings forced me to act awkward around her. A few years has passed by and I often wonder what it would be like if I never felt that way. It makes me sort of sad. :( Any of you ever had a friend that was better than you in every way? How are you two now?
