our flight was delayed for more than one hour and it's the worst experience

We were supposed to get back to our destination by 6pm but because of the delay we arrived by 7:30 pm already. We arrived too early at the departure so we can be sure we won't be left behind by the airplane. so we have stayed in the departure area for about 4 1/2 hours before we were able to board the plane. And the worst is that my ears have this piercing pain inside when the starts to descend till it landed on the airport and that's in the span of 20 minutes that I have to endure such pain. And its not just a slight pain, it was so painful that almost cry at some point.

So sorry that you experienced such pain, been there. The ear problem you are having has something to do with your sinuses. That has happened to me numerous times on descending. To the point I'm doing everything in my power not to cry. It is such horrible pain you feel like your head is going to explode. That is why I would do everything in not to travel if sick with a cold and if you have to travel try to chew gum while descending. That helps somewhat.

Next time I would remember to chew gum before and during the flight.

Its a long time that you had to wait for the flight but this thing does happen at airports and you as a passenger does not have any control over these situations. And your ear pain looks serious so why not go to specialist for the best treatment available for that thing.

Wow!! 4 1/2 hrs and you had to just stay around the gate all the time. Reminds me of when we flew from here to St Louis, and got stuck at the Denver airport with a delay. I can now say I have been in Denver, at least the airport that is. Sounds like next time before you fly somewhere you might want to invest in some Ear plugs that will help block out some of this noise. I know a lot of people who work for the airlines and at the airports have to wear them, so it might benefit you as well.

I hate it when this happens to me, too. There were times when the pain lasted even after getting off the plane. It's not terribly unbearable for me, but it is distracting. I can also relate how weary you were due to your flight's delay. Recently, I feel more exhausted than the usual after a flight. Even without a delay, getting to the airport early, getting into long lines of security and check-in's and the flight itself has become so jading. I usually end up sleeping after arriving at my destination.

that is the worst experience? I once had to wait in the middle of the winter for over 9 hours (they made us run from one side of the airport to the other) nowhere written down there was a delay.. just waiting and waiting.. no time/chance to buy some food or drinks.. as we finally were allowed to get into the plane they let us wait in the plane for about 4 hours as well (without anything to drink or eat so I think you can imagine how that was for many with small kids).
