It is been a while since i posted a discussion, until this happens. I am posting to record this unhappy event. One moment everything was alright, then I started to feel some swell. Next thing I know, the doctor tells me it's shingles. Now I am stuck in the home with a swollen face and not daring to go out (and I shouldn't). I can take the itch, but I sure hope my health returns and the swell and shingles go away. What a way to (kinda) start this year. Anyone has any medication/relief to recommend?

Hi dear Sorry to hear that. It's not chicken pox, right? It's probably just a viral infection and I actually got it 3 months ago and my son got it a month after that. It took about a week for the red spots to finally clear off. Dont worry. It's nothing serious. Just don't take too much heaty food and do drink lots of water to keep yourself cool.

Awwww... you call me dear? So sweeeeet. Makes the pain more tolerable. How've you been too? It's related to chickenpox. Apparently, when chickenpox is over, some viral strain hid within our system and when there is opportunity (like when we are stressed ...or old), they just come knocking on the door to say hello. The difference is that this is more localised whereas chickenpox is spread all over the body. The worse is I got it on my face and neck....look like bullfrog or some comic monster.... Just seen the doctor again, and given some more days to rest at home. Keep in touch in PM too, and you take care too, ok?

Yes, you are very dear. Glad that it soothe the pain a bit. I am fine. Thanks for asking. I'm sorry that you had to be looking like a bullfrog. I bet you look cute. Well, the viral infection that I had was more like measles but it's not measles and I had it all over. Glad that it only lasted one week and it was all gone. Will definitely keep in touch and you take care too.

What did the Doctor give you that they said will help? I have heard this is no fun, and not a good experience for some many yrs. after. I hope somehow things will start to improve for you, and you start feeling better. I have heard that there are some arthritis creams and such that can help, or do some research online and see what people there recommend.

A dose of antibiotics ( I think) which I must religiously take 5 times a day over the next week and some cream to dry up those "sores". Oh yes, painkiller too. It seems to be getting better by the day, thank God. Thanks for the kind concern. In the meantime, I am enjoying home stay and mylot.

The medical condition that you are having is quite new to me. I don't know you got the disease. Yes, staying at home and try to recover from it may be the best thing you can do for now. As for the treatment, there is no known treatment for it as I searched through the internet. It seems that you can take antiviral medication to help ease the pain and reduce the length though. I hope that you are better now.
