I sit here in my living room watching the planes coming in, and remembering what my brother in law said recently.
He said that the closest we'd get to a vacation is watching the planes at the airport. I'm going to prove him wrong.
We have a little bit saved already, socked away in an account that can't be touched except through online banking. That makes it easier to save it.
In a few months time, it will be time for a paid haircut, and that will bring in more money for this vacation.
I still have a place planned out as to where to go, and have been in conversation with someone who lives down there who can help us figure out what to do when we're there.
If I can put aside a little bit of money every time I get paid, I will have it all saved up when it's time to book the vacation.
I just have to use enough control to make sure I don't spend the money on anything else instead of the trip.
I will keep the money in the savings account for a while before sending it over to my credit card, that way I don't have the temptation to spend it.
Of course, I could just leave my credit card at home.

It is great that you are going to try to save a bit of money so that you can go away.
It will also be a bonus just to show your brother in law that you can save the money and go on vacation.I am also the kind of person that like to show people that I can do what ever they are saying that I can not.
I was trying to save some money up as well, but other things had to be bought or replaced and that has mostly gone now, so thinking of other ways in how to have a few pounds to put away.

Well, right now I have a ton of pennies to wrap up. I've sent my husband out to get wraps so I can complete this task. I have no idea what I'll have when I'm done, but it looks like I'll have over $10 worth. That will be put into the bank as well.

It is lovely that you can sit and watch planes fly in and fly out of the airport. When I see a plane in the sky I imagine where it might be traveling to. It could be Bristol Airport or somewhere in mainland Europe.
Good luck saving up for a vacation of your own. Yes, you need to have much control on your spending until then. It is great that you have it all planned out where you are going to. You will soon be proving your brother in law wrong.
We have eight weeks before our trip as from tomorrow as our trip will leave on 22 May. It is a 3 week trip by train around Eastern Europe seeing the Ukraine and Moldova. I will be saving around 100 pounds per week for that trip.

I think the trip may be a great burden to you, which makes you lose the chance to enjoy your normal life. Travel is a way to know new things, enjoy the happiness of life. But from your experience to save money for it, it almost become the very reason for your unhappiness.
To save the money for your trip, you can make a list for daily expenses, put the unexpected things into consider, then do it in a long period, do not try to cut too much expenses down.

I'm sure that opportunity to travel will come to you at the right time. I had been in the same situation as you are in the past when I had to report to the office headquarters in Malaysia once a month every year in 2010 and 2011. I had no problem with the accommodation as the company shoulders the hotel stay for one month. It's just the daily expenses especially food for 3 meals a day that made it so difficult to budget as we couldn't even cook right in the hotel, they don't have extra facilities to enable my mom and I to cook. So I kinda hated the idea of going there for 28 days for work. Always tight on the budget.

You will be surprised on how fast coins add up. I noticed that quarters and pennies add up fast and then once in a while I am lucky when the nickels and dimes add up. I am also going to start my online business soon and am hoping that this will generate some money as well. I asked pay pal and they do not penalize if you keep the money in the account. I keep it in there and then transfer it to my prepaid paypal debit card just before I need to buy something. Saving is great and it helps me out.
