How young are you when you become a GRANDPARENT?

I remember when I was a kid I asked my parents if how old or when will be a person will become a grandparent. My parents told me that once that the children like us will be having a kid someday then automatically the parents will be already grandparents. So of course they didn’t answer the specific age. As I thought that it is always the matter of age then realized it depends as well in generation especially in terms of relatives as well. Of course you can’t be just grandparent because of your child who has own baby but because of your relatives as well like nieces and nephews. I am sure there are other people who became a grandparent as young as 30 to 50 years of age or younger than that it could be as well at 20s because of their relatives.

I was 44 years old when I became a grandmother for the first time. My youngest daughter gave me my first grandchild. If my eldest daughter had had a child first, I could have been a grandmother before reaching my 40 years of age. My mother was not 40 yet when I had my first child but I got married when I turned 18.

I became a grandparent when I was 41. Will be a grandmother again in May...Yipppie! I'm enjoying the title to be honest. I get to be the fun grandma because I like to play along with my granddaughter.

There are people I know who had children in the thier teens, so they could be young grandparents. I was nearly thirty when I had my child, so I will probably be more closer to the 50s range.
