Every single night he does the same thing. He goes crazy. Every night, he bolts through the living room and over to the front bedroom door where our one roommate lives. He starts pawing the door like crazy. He wont stop pawing at the door. Our roommate doesn't want the cat in there, but Fluffy follows him everywhere. He got in there once, and has had a taste for the room since. And now he always wants to go in there. I try to tire him out with his feather toy, but it's not enough. I need to find a way to keep him away from the door. I wanted to put up the baby gate, but we worry that our roommate will forget that it's there and trip over it. I have been given some options, and the next time I go to the pet store, I'll find something to use to keep him away from there. I need to stop him from doing this, I don't need it to become a habit that I can't break him from.

A cat wants what he or she can't have. It's simple cat psychology. And beware - our one cat figured out how to open every bedroom door in our house! They learn quickly. He'll also get in to my husband's armoire - which is closed because he has clothes hanging in it - he's figured out how to get a claw in just the right place to "pull" the door open. With the bedroom doors, he'll put a paw under the door and pull it open, or jump up against the doorknob and "turn" it so it opens. The trick is in extinguishing undesirable behavior. Always focus on one thing you want to change. Some cats respond to loud noise - if a loud noise is sounded each time he goes near the door, he'll stay away eventually. Others will go if they keep getting squirted with water. One of my cats hates the sound of aluminum foil. All I have to do is start to crumble up a ball of it, and he'll leave the area.

Or, your roommate can just give up and let Fluffy in...lol. Most cats, once in, will settle down on a bed or chair or blanket and go to sleep.

I have heard that you put double sided tape where they tend to paw and claw and that it feels bad to their feet so they quit. I have also heard of a product in the past called "Indoor 'no'" but I do not know if they make it any more.

The cat has formed an attachment with the roommate. It shows since the cat follows the roommate everywhere. Does the roommate have a medical problem? usually when a cat is that insistent the person that they are attached to has a medical problem that the cat feels that they have to take care of for the person. I know with my crew of cats since being diagnosed with the heart problem along with the pain I have every day, my cats always make sure that at least one of them is with me during the night. I usually end up with all four in bed with me, making sure that I am safe and protected. Also, in the animal kingdom, sleeping means that the participant that is sleeping is prone and open for attack. The rest of the group surrounds the member that is sleeping and stand guard for them making sure that they are NOT attacked. As it was stated, the sticky tape would work, or maybe some foil on the floor. If that doesn't work, maybe you're going to have to take stronger measures and use the spray bottle and spray him each time he starts pawing on the door. Also there are some different preparations that will offend the cat and make the cat stay away from the door. It's kind of sad for the cat because the cat has adopted the roommate as his responsibility and has set his sights on taking care of that roommate.

Hello there ! Cats are so cute but sometimes unruly . Let us do our best not to hurt them because there is something in them that connects to us. You see , we can't choose a cat but it is the cat who chooses us. If your cat is that unruly then i guess it is better to place it in a cage and release it once in a while than hurting the cat.
