I cut my long hair but it doesn't mean I am broken hearted

having a long hair requires a long time. People who tends to save their hair do no usually cut it. So there is this believe that when a female is serious hurt and in pain because of her heart being broken, the female would have nothing more to hold her back and make a great change to herself. As many have witnessed, people who suffer great blow in the heart would have dramatic change in their mind, behavior and appearance.

I heard about this stuff in college. Like when a girl was broken hearted, the very first thing that she "lashes" on is her hair since most guys (at least back then) prefer long-haired girls. So it has become some sort of a joke and a phrase that whenever someone made a drastic change in hairstyle, they would ask, "are you broken-hearted?" Same as when they ask you "is your stylist still alive?" as a joke that the new haircut didn't turn out good so the person must have done something with his/her stylist. At least this is the explanation bestowed on me back then.

Women who's brokenhearted often get new hairstyles to look good, not just for their ex to realize how beautiful they are but also to feel good for themselves. Looking good brings back the confidence you lost during heartaches. But me, I cut my hair when I get bored sometimes. I only cut the front for bangs but not short, just long enough to tuck behind my ears.

Most of the people loved long hair and if they are used in seeing you for that, any change will be of big deal to them. The less is for them to think your broken- hearted. For me I think your on the right track, do things you think good for you.

I guess when people have their heart broken, they blame it on themselves. They think it's because they are ugly etc. So because of that, people associate changing the way you look with a broken heart. It's not just cutting your hair, it can be all kinds of things. Things like getting new piercings, dying your hair, wearing more make up than usual etc. It is a common thing for people to drastically change the way they look after having a broken heart - so some people (incorrectly) assume a correlation between the two. But it doesn't matter what other think, as long as you are happy! :-D

A whole new look makes you feel good and there is a saying that we change from the head to toe.But anyway you need time to get used to it,don't upset cuz you gonna have a complete new you and just have a try.

I did not even know there is such myth. I suppose people do drastic change with their hair style for different reasons. Last time my son cut his hair was perhaps a year ago; those who have not seen him for a while might think there is something wrong with him for growing a long hair. But I don't really think he is doing that because he is experienceing any problems. He just want to try something different.

Oh that is a little pity because you are such a beautiful girl with long hair,but I think you still look good may be more cute when you have short hair,so why not share some new pictures of the new "you"? I looking forward to your new pictures.

Hi,valorieesquilona, I can imagine that you are very glad for your new look, sometimes changing a new hairstyle is like changing ourselves, I like it. I always change my hair style, it never depends on my feelings.But I really know the saying that when girls are broken-hearted they cut their long hair short, GIrls' long hair represent their emotions for the boys they love, when they aparted, girls cut the long hair which means cutting the feelings they had for the boys they loved . Some girls did it for that but some girls did it just for a new look, like us!

wow may be you can upload your new look with the new hair style. the myth behind it iguess nothing but people often cut their hair because they confused about somthing big...or may be they have a big problem so they cut their hair may be they feel better.

There is no science behind that! Well for me, it is normal to try to change your looks. Changing hair style is like opening ones self to a new you.
