I am listening to the news this evening and a report comes on about Rosa Parks. She is getting a forever stamp for use with the US postal service. She is well known for her famous refusal to give up her sit, when a white man demanded it. I guess back then it was law that people who were not white had to give up their sit on a bus if a white person wanted it. I am glad she did not budge.
I have to wonder though we hear so much about her courage during that dreadful time during the US's most recent history, what about the man who wanted her sit. No one knows what happened to him. Did he go slinking away into the background. I am not suggesting he should be famous, but maybe he should be infamous. Maybe his name should be known, if anything as an example of how not to treat people.

I've heard of her a bit. She was very courageous about that. I've also heard that racism isn't an issue anymore, when it still is. Even here in the Philippines, there are foreigners who come here and give us some s*** about how we live. What the f***!? How about not coming here at all? We're not that rich if a country, we're all aware of that, but we also try our best to succeed in life, something that they don't know about.

Racism is still an issue no matter where you go. It has gotten better because more and more people are learning to be empathetic toward each other.

Those people were very brave to stand up for their equal rights in those time . A man like that has no need to be famous because he was not the first to demand a seat . No one care to remember him , because there was plenty like hm .
Even though we dont live in the US we also follow those history especially in this month .

did not mean for him to be famous but to be infamous. Known for doing something not correct.

Yes, she is a very brave black woman at that time, during segragation era in the South, a non white person can not sit anywhere in the public transportation base solely on her/his choice, she has to sit at the back of the bus. Her courageous action began the long struggle of civil fight against legal segregation law in the Southern states. She could have been killed for refusal to give up her seat at that time, it took a lot of gut for a woman like her to stand up for her civil rights at that moment in time. She deserved her portrait shown up in a forever stamp of USPS.

If anyone deserves to have a forever stamp it truly should be Rosa Parks. She was brave enough to take a stand for not only afro americans but for everyone. Nobody should have to sit in back of the bus because of color, race, belief, or religion. She did the human race proud for standing up to her beliefs. We should all feel honored to show the memory of Rosa Parks the dignity she deserves.
