Best way to get out of your bad mood: KEEP YOURSELF BUSY.

It has been more than 7 months now since I have entered my college and regretfully speaking, it has been a place which I am finding hard to survive in because of the stiff competition you tend to face in anything and everything you do. Sometimes I think I am overdoing it but when you see people around you doing all kind of intellectual stuff, you are ought to get demoralized. I am trying to be smart by not letting me get too much affected by this. I have also observed that best thing to get out of your bad mood is to keep yourself busy with anything. It would be good if you make this a habit and bonus it with productiveness. It vanishes many of your worries and more importantly do not give you time to think of silly things which you may would have had thought off. I have experienced it. And I am finding it really working.

Yes, the best way to get yourself out of a bad mood, is to find things that you really enjoy doing and get yourself out of that bad mood. Not everyday you do in life will work out for the best, but when you remember to stay motivated and think of good thoughts you will be happily surprised.

I totally agree. Activity and purpose elevate mood, because you are doing something other than going "poor me" hour after hour which helps no one, least of all, you. Read a book, phone a friend, do something that makes you happy. It won't make everything 100% better, but it will help.

Yes, keeping yourself busy is the best medicine for changing mood. Exercise is also a good way to help your mood. Glad you realize this.

Yes, and I read from the book that when you keep busy your depression goes away because instead of thinking difficult situations your work is taking full attention of your senses. It is also helpful to regularly change activities to avoid monotonous work.

I am the kind of a guy that hates getting into trouble and the bad mood that follows it. I have also found that keeping busy while in a bad mood also has this habit of landing me into more problems, as whatever I do to keep busy gets messed up too! That dear Gautam, is double trouble. I have come to know that trouble is when one thinks something has gone wrong and then obsessing about it. Doing something else to feel better is not going to help in the long run as what has gone wrong still remains a mess. It is always better to get busy setting things right. Once set right, these issues become a source of joy.

Hi gautam! What you said is true. If you are busy, you will not have more time to be thinking about any problem. This is a good strategy to follow. Have a nice day!

I can tell from your discussion that you are a hardworking college student. I remembered that when I was in college, I was not that busy. Most of the students in college had nothing to do and they wasted a lot of time. I tried my best to find something to do, try to learn something by myself. I should say it's good to make full use of our time. NO pains, no gains. BUt still, I think I didn't work that hard as you did. I am sure you will make great progress if you go on like this. Come on, friend, a saying for you," God help those who help themselves." You will have a bright future, I believe. It's common that we don't fit the new environment very soon, but when one year or two years in college pass, when there are new college students come, and you will find you have fit the college and everything goes very very smoothly. Just try your hard.

You have found a way to keep yourself good. But side by side, its always wise not to develop complexity at any stage of life. You can too do wonders and like other intellectuals, find your own interest and engage yourself with some creative task. It will help you to go forward. Do not keep yourself busy, just to avoid a particular state of mind only. Be creative. You can do painting, photography etc. which may be one of your hobby.
