......the flu is spreading around so much. If my daughter were to get the flu, which won't go away in a few days. But,on the first and second day I can just call her school and tell them and it would be excused absenses. But,on the third day they require that I take her to the doctor and get a note. And in my case that means taking a sick child on the bus and spread her germs. Then I would spread her germs in the doctors office as well.
And there are people that work outside the home.I had a job one time where I had caught the flu and I called in sick.My boss told me,"Well ok,but you better be well by tomorrow bacause if you call in tomorrow then don't bother coming back and we'll mail you your check!"
At the time the economy wasn't so bad,I did not have kids and was living at home.So when I lost the job,it wasn't too big of a financial burden. But,the economy is bad now and if I were working outside the home I would have to go to work to be able to provide a roof over my daughter's head, clothes on her back and food in her mouth. And that's the way it is for most people.
What do you think?

hi scarlet--woman I hate it when employers are like that. I worked for a bipolar boss who refused to take her meds. but one thins good was she did suggest if you were very ill to go home so as not to spread the flu to others. Imagine a person with the flu shelving books and media in the public and how many people would be treated to those vile little virus?

n lost all my long response. I do agree with all you said and want to add this do not blow your nose on a napkin and toss it on the table in front of your table mates. The virus in your nose m ay not be making you ill but it can make us ill.The person seated across from me tears his napkin into 8 pieces then blows his damned nose on them and tosses them into an empty bowl just inches from my plate. We have admonished him and he stops for awhile then starts allover again.

The best way to take your child around is for you to purchase a face mask but if in case she is allergic to that, you can purchase the cloth like version. Flu vaccine shots are better given by the doctor before the start of the rainy or cold weather. I am just recently recovering from suffering from flu which later relapse into pharyngitis and laryngitis. I could have recovered faster but my neighbor decided to cook barbecue with the smoke floating heavily inside my house that made me sick and cough even worse. I only got to sleep for two hours and wake up coughing heavily.
I was worried about this but my EENT doctor told me that the Flu strain nowadays have mutated into something different. She has countless patients ranging from old people to the very young ones. The long lines of patient can attest to this. Having the good balance of proper medications, right amount of sleep and eating the right kind of food helped me recovered quickly. Although my voice is still hoarse as of today. I am optimistic that before the week end is over that I will be fine with God's help of course.

Well I see it as if my kids are sick enough even with the flu to see the doctor then I'm going to take them no matter what way to get there because either way there germs have already been spread. Before anyone shows signs of being sick they have spread there germs most always when your feeling sick your not longer going to spread the germs but it's not impossible. I would take them on the bus you going out of the house when your well you can get sick it makes not difference.
When it comes to work I think it's best to find a job that is understanding that you have a children and they will get sick and you will have to stay home at times to take care of them and if they aren't going to care then I"m not going to be working for them.
Thankfully I'm a stay at home mom and don't have to worry about much but I do have worry about my husband losing his job and not making enough.

My children's school doesn't require a doctor's note thankfully as at my doctor's you have to pay for them, but my work does if your sick for more than a day. Thankfully no one gets sick in my house very often. I do see your point though, but you are exposed to germs everywhere. People go to stores to get medicine when they are sick, money has been in the hands of sick people, at one point almost guaranteed. I don't think there is any way to avoid germs even if you stayed home from work when sick or kept your daughter home!
