I've been craving napa or bok choy cooked with ramen noodles and sausage. I think its devine! Hubby and one of the kids said yuck when I made it. It's not like I made it for them! IDK there's something about filling about adding veggies and a lil sausage or whatever to ramen noodle that makes it yummy. Do you think it's gross to add veggies to ramen noodle?

Not at all. Tonight I am adding some veggies and little itsy bitsy dunplings to ramen noodles for the twin's supper. They get a cooked lunch at school so I do not have to cook a three course dinner for them at night. Is bok choy what we call pak choy? I will be putting that in their soup with slithers of carrots.

I've never heard of it being called Pak Choy. It's a Chinese celery.

Why it would be gross? I think adding veggies or sausage to ramen is fine. I also sometimes add garlic, onion lots of cheese to my Ramen noodles. I think it is just fine. Well after all as you said it was not for them, so enjoy yourself what ever you made.

Well being kids they dislike veggies sometimes especially green ones *LOL* I wish I could add garlic it doesn't agree with me I'm afraid.

It sounds good to me, only I would use rice, hubby does not eat noodles. I like sausage, cabbage and potatoes cooked together as well. That is a good source of many nutrients.

I guess you could use rice perhaps instant?
I know they don't like cooked cabbage other than in pancit. I'm the only one who likes it on St Pats with my corned beef. Can't wait to buy some of that too... come on St. Pats!

Maybe it's the type of veggie.. I've never heard of either of those. I once made a meal out of ramen noodles by adding chicken, peas, and carrots to it.

Bok choy is Chinese celery used in alot of Asian dishes. Napa is Chinese cabbage. My Mom used to used them in stir frys. But I got inspired at a Chinese buffet a few months back they had a station where you could pick from a dozen things and make your own soup of sorts. I saw a lady while we were waiting to pay had this beautiful bowl of soup... I should of tried the station but wasn't sure what to do til I spoke with someone else who goes to that one what you do.

There are many sites with ramen noodle recipes on them. I've not made peanut noodles, the only thing I make with peanuts is pbj sandwiches and pb cookies :)

We use them all too much I think. My kids love peanut crusted chicken and buckeyes.

It's not gross! Lol! When you eat everything it all gets mixed up in the stomach anyway.

That is true your stomach could care less as long as it can take the nutrients it needs out of whatever you ate.

If they don't like it they can go without! If you enjoy it, then why not, adding vegetables makes it healthier and it also makes it more filling, it spices it up and gives it more taste too. Some people just don't know what's good for them!

Trust me my kids don't know what's good for them. But I think they know what's good for them better than others do sadly. As they have mentioned seeing kids with pringles canisters as their snacks... I see nothing healthy about it. But at the same time the one's teacher will let her have a pudding cup the other will not.

Whenever I have one of those instant ramen noodle soups, I always add veggies. More to like.

I've been trying to put more veggies in and a half pkg of noodles as we need more veggies in our diet than carbs.

Since I love Ramen noodles and they are so high in calories, I always add vegetables so that I can stretch my serving size. One serving won't fill me up but if I add vegetables it's more than enough. One package makes 2 servings--a lot of people don't know that and I didn't, either, until I looked about 2 years ago. For me, adding vegetables is a must unless I want to be hungry! In fact, you could stretch one package to feed 3-4 people if you added vegetables and maybe some lean chicken from leftovers for a very, very cheap meal.

hi oh myh\3 snugglebunnies I love that combination and think its really delicious also am patiently awaiting St paticks day so I can have some corned beef and cabbage Delicious I also love the stuffed cabbage they do here in Gold Crest as its really good unlike a lot of their yuck meals. Their spaghetti is good too but who could go wrong cooking spaghetti for goodness sakes.I love veggies as i have diabetes and they are so good for us and do not shoot our blood sugar up like so many things do.
They make their own veggie soup and its very good as it's made from scratch.

Did you ever get our corned beef? My family won't let me make it with cabbage. My hubby refuses to eat it because it looks like "boiled dinner" or as he calls it "baby sh!t"
My hubby can mess up spaghetti for some reason he likes adding sugar to the sauce. I'd love some veggie soup from scratch the closest I get is my home made chicken noodle soup which 2 of my kids love and again husband dislikes. He claims he doesn't like how I make it cause I tend to put alot of veggies in it, though I just knocked it down to chicken, rice, carrots, and celery but he still won't touch it

It's sort of a 'wisdom'-thing ... they come to the noodles expecting 'noodley' and instead get 'noodley-Plus'
I imagine that when I was young I didn't like big group-music (orchestras, bands, choirs) because they were too complex for me. I was fine with songs (with music in the background, so long as it STAYED BACK THERE ).
To me, music was only 'melody.' "Harmony" was like ... veggies & meats in the noodles---Yuck! lol

it is not gross to put veggies to the rammen. in fact this makes it a nutricious food. encourage your children to eat it since it is vegetable unless they don't really eat them

It sounds really good to me. It makes me hungry for some. I haven't made it in a long time. I am the only one in my house, wo eats the stuff. I think, I am going to make it, now.

I won't say yuck just that I don't like Ramen. That's just me though. My husband and kids love them. I don't think any of them have ever actually thought about putting in veggies though. They have put in ground beef and hot dogs before though. The last time they did the hot dog thing it didn't settle too well. I will pass the veggie idea on though because they all do love them and ramen so why not combine them.

Veggies to ramen????
Why not? Wouldn't that make it a more balanced meal? Maybe your family just doesn't like veggies and it has nothing to do with ramen or other staple food.
Hmm...you can do a test. Make them salad...without the cream sauces and see how they take to it.
Now don't put the blame on ramen, they are my favourite...with veggies!!

its not yucky at all!... i always do the samethinbg, whenever i need a quick lunch at home i cook instant noodles and i'd still want it to be healthy so i put cabbage or carrots in it.
