His birthday is Feb. 16 and I asked my son what he needs and of course he said clothes since he has so many toys already. Then my son tells me we are going to Maine to his wife's mothers house...I don't really like her and neither does my son...lol....so I got him the cutest 1st Birthday card then immediately checked my bank account to see how much I could afford to spend. I always buy his clothes at Carter's online because they always have awesome sales. I ended up spending over $60 on pants, tops and pj's. I like Carters because their good quality clothes. This is one kid that's never going to get Walmart clothes from me anyway. I know his other grandmother gets him clothes from second hand stores. That's ok for me and I've been lucky enough to get some good buys but I won't buy my Grandsons clothes there. Would you buy your daughters first baby second hand clothes? I guess he's too special to me to do that. I love Carters baby clothes and their sales.

What is wrong with buying clothing from thrift shops or consignment shops? If and when I have children, that is where the bulk of their clothing will be coming from, because it is more ecologically-friendly as well as being better for the budget. Plus, depending on the thrift shop, the proceeds from the sales may be going to support a good cause.
Children typically outgrow clothing so quickly that most things barely have time to incur much wear. That is especially true for very young children.

I would hope that I never had to buy from a second hand store for my grandkids. There are people who can only buy from these type of places because they don't have the money for anything better. With that I say "for to the grace of God there go I," I too just ordered clothes for my grandson who will be two on February 10th. I also brought from Carters online. I brought him a few outfits, pj's, sneakers and socks. I won't be able to be there because I live faraway. By the way I have also brought clothes from Walmart for my three grandkids in the past. Depending on what you are buying they do have nice clothes too at good prices.

First birthday of grandson...? It is certainly a special occasion for you. Clothes, delicious foods, toys, inviting little babies and their parents, relative etc are the specialties those are followed. My best wishes to your grandson, son and you for the occasion! Thanks and cheers...!!

First of all, I'd like to greet your grandson happy birthday in advance. He's so lucky that his grandmother can afford to buy him firsthand clothes. Clothings are getting more and more expensive nowadays. My son is only eight years old so it's still a long wait for me to see my grandkids. I hope by that time, I can also afford to buy them firsthand clothes. If I couldn't, then secondhand clothes are fine. They are better than nothing. I guess all of us want ourselves, our children, our grandchildren or everyone in our family to have good clothings. If we could afford to buy firsthand clothes then it's better. Though sometimes we need to be practical. Money is difficult to earn so buying secondhand clothings will save us money. Thanks for sharing and happy mylotting.

When I found out that I was pregnant with my daughter, one of the first things that my mother and I started doing together was that we started visiting a lot of garage sales to get some new clothes for my little princess. You see, I grew up in a family where we tried live as thrifty as possible and thus when I found out that I was pregnant with my first child, this was something that I wanted to instill in my children as well.
I don't think that there is anything at all wrong with second hand clothes as long as it is something that will not offend the child's parents.

I do find joy in buying from second hand stores. But I have never bought anything for my kids from that store. Not even if my youngest is 8 years old.

If possible no but there 2nd hand clothes that was never used before. I mean those clothes sold for bargain and landed on a second hand store. Speaking of 2nd hand sometimes one's body is sensitive and there some impediments than can be removed by a simple wash of clothes, but when you think of special it must be special a brand new one, 1st touch.
