Yes, there are foods that are less calories for pets. Listening to the vets suggestions is key ofcourse. And probably taken it for walks or some kind of exercise would be a good idea.

I dont know why so many people want fat cats. Every cat lover i know wants a fat lazy cat that sleeps around all day. My aunt has a fat cat, the cat is very hypertensive and is taking higher dosages of beta blockers than my aunt herself. Her diet is monitored and everything, but then the cat is still fat and her perfume is much more expensive than mine.

I think I'd let it still eat whatever it wants even if its a fat cat, who am i to stop anyone from what makes them happy. They have a life too, and its their life not mine. Its better to live a short fulfilling life than a dull mediocre life where you haven't enjoyed anything.

hi there youless, i think i would not be able to help my pet lose weight because i would really not be able to hold food from it. i would feel bad about him not being able to eat something, just about looking at his face i would have my heart melt and just feel sad and guilty not giving it food.

Animals cannot help themselves and it is our duty and responsibility to ensure that our pets are fed properly, have fresh water to drink, a warm comfy home, visits to the vet when sick, daily grooming and exercise as necessary.
If our pet is overweight, it is our fault. We need to stop giving snacks, feed only proper food and give the dear doggy exercise. Troubles like arthritis will occur if we do not. Other illness can also come about if an animal is overweight.

I had a cat that was overweight. I kept her on a diet and when she wanted to eat I distracted her by playing with her or taking her outside. Other times I just let her sit by her empty dish. That part was very hard because she looked so pathetic. I would give her catnip too sometimes so she'd (hopefully) forget about food for a little while and go play somewhere. She was leash trained so I would let her walk all around the yard on her leash. It took about 4 months but she lost the weight. She only needed to lose 3-4 pounds but for a cat that's a lot. I bought a good quality cat food for weight loss. And she never put the weight back on.

Well, it's not good for animals to be overweight. Just like for people. They can get all kinds of weight related problems, too. It's not easy, especially when you can't explain to them and it seems like they think you're starving them just to be mean. But it's not impossible, just a lot of work.

Personally it is often hard to make sure your pet does not get overweight, and stays healthy. Especially if it is an indoor cat. I know weight and diet can have a thing to do with how long it will live. And there are better foods out there for them. We try and limit the amount of food we allow our dog to eat, and will let him run around outside. Keeping him healthy looking is important the older he gets for sure.

I definitely won't let them eat whatever they want. I want them to live a long, full life. And by letting them eat whatever I would be helping them end their life sooner rather than later. I feel really bad when I see dogs that are extremely fat. I wish their owners would be a little more discriminating in what they let their dogs eat.

I would help my pet to lose weight and gain his or her designed weight to avoid health problems.Having a pet is like rearing another child too because they too need love, understanding, respect and proper shelter.I would want a pet that is healthy and active and is gentle with kids and toddlers.Caring and grooming your pet is a must but it is understandable that everything that is too much will come into waste .

What a big cute cat, I bet it's very heavy to carry. Although it's very cute but I think I will put that cat in diet and excersise for it's health reasons. I really don't but my opinion is that this big cat will somehow have difficult in mving around.

When I lived with my ex we had four cats and one of them was badly overweight, Edward was his name and he used to go round to neighbours homes blatantly go into the catflap and eat other people's cat's food, if you please! We took him to the vet and he had to be given this special dietary food and kept away from the other 3 cats's plates because he was greedy, very greedy, which meant buying an indoor cage, well because I was at home all day and my partner at work, Edward did nothing but cry, it was heartbreaking to see him in the cage whilst the other 3 cats were given free reign of the home, but we had to do it for his own good.
