How do you feel that Feb. 14 is near?

I was able to finish a training last Tuesday and when I gave a talk on office relationships, the professional one... one of the participants quipped that it's the same with the bf and gf relationship. I laughed and acknowledged his response. But really... everyone in the room is excited for Feb. 14 - the day of love. Even when I finished the training program, they greeted me of "Happy Valentine". I simply thanked them.
What I noticed though is that many associates it with Romantic Love. For me, I believe that it should not be limited to "falling in-love feeling" but the kind of love that we share with our families and friends.
Yes, I am not in a romantic relationship but I am quite fulfilled with the love I get around me. So I guess, me and my family will be sharing that kind of love.
How about you, what's your say on this?

What started as a relationship between two of the opposite s.ex is now extended to love between one and all. I tend to disagree with you somewhat. But yes, everyone is now going your way!
For me Valentine's Day only reminds me of the road accident I had on Feb 14 2006!

Actually I do not quite agree with keeping days for this and that, like mother's
sday, father's day..........Each day needs to be a special day doing what is required of one be it a mother, father, brother or whoever!

Then we are on the same page. That is actually my point. Everyday or any day can be a special day for the love ones. Glad to know that.

Wow, you have a trauma? Road accident can be traumatic.
I hope you'll get over it and replace it with happy thoughts and memories. Me, I make sure that I wake up each morning, excited to do something nice. But of course it does not always happen. Something can get wrong as we go through the day.
But as always, I remain positive.
"I tend to disagree with you somewhat. But yes, everyone is now going your way!" -- With this, that is a refreshing answer. You know, you are right about a celebration that V-day is actually intended as a celebration for 2. You see, that's where the skill of persuasion comes in. It's traditional and I always not go where the tides usually flows. I'm a little creative. Hahaha.
Have a great day!!!

I am not sure how the people here in where I am now celebrate Valentine's day. Hmm maybe because I am in a rural area and not City. I am sure the people in the city celebrate the day.
Valentine day is just another normal day for me. In other words, I will wake up, work and work, and work, and work, and then sleep. Nothing so special about it. though it is Valentine's Day. I don't wear red or pink on this occasion LOL. I am not wearing black too because I will look like the day hater.
but nevertheless Valentine's day is such a great day. I buy cake for everyone to share in the house. I give each something sweet as valentine gift. everyone means everyone in the house not with work mates.

Hello Mavic.
That's nice. I wish I was with you so I can have a cake too. Hahaha. I'll just buy if I feel like having one too. Or maybe, I can get an ice cream.
Thanks for sharing.

For me it's just an ordinary day. I show love to my loved ones whenever I want. I buy them food or anything that can make them happy when I have spare money. Sometimes I include that in my budget. Sometimes, without plans I cook food for them.
I don't really spend much on those kinds on Feb 14, because flowers and chocolates and dining out are more expensive on that day. Of course, we just greet each other a happy valentines, but that's just it. No spending, no dates out, none of those things. Just a simple ordinary day.

Hello kourdapya. I like your name.
Thanks for sharing. I am thinking right now, what I should do if I have the luxury of time to spend. Maybe I'll do something silly. Because if it's the productive type, then it'll be just another day. Hehehe.
But I have work on said date too. So I guess I don't have that much luxury.
Have a great day and see you around.

Hello mariaperalta.
Feel good about yourself. The fact that you are existing means a lot. You are there to be a blessing to others specially to your love ones. It's in your hands to change an ordinary day to an extra-ordinary one.
But of course, I meant not just on the Vday. Better to do it each day that comes.
Just sharing to you my thoughts.
Cheers!!!

It's just sink in that the hearts day is coming.. and it is coming so soon. Hubby is besides me as I read your post discussion and so I asked him if he has plans for us. He answered me with a laugh and I just gave you and Ipod.
So I assumed that the ipod is my all time present.. my Christmas, valentine, wedding anniversary and birthday. I understand though if hubby won't treat me out because I know that we are struggling financially specially that we need to pay a very large amount for name transfer of our us.
If I won't be somewhere this Feb. 14, it would never make me sad or some thing co's I know.. it's for a cause.

Hello leeandrew.
It's nice to see an understanding wife. You know, I am such a romantic. Maybe it is not necessarily done on Feb. 14 but it can be any day. But I just want to share something cute (I think) and silly... Hehehe.
Have you tried going on top of your roof on an evening then do some star gazing, small talks and maybe a little picnic? Just a thought...
Have a nice day!

Yes, this is one day that is not special to me too. But you see, you cannot just ignore it when everyone around you treats it as something special. So my reaction to it is to downplay it and just let them enjoy it. I would not say something to them that would lessen their excitement. Because that's one feeling that would really be advantageous for me. They will stop feeling grouchy and I can ask my them to do something for me. Hehehe.

Hello shorty08322.
Maybe you can make it different by doing something nice to others. Or why not make each day a love day? I just hope you will be happy. You somehow sounded bored.
Just a thought...

Oh, I would like to spend Valentine with my husband but I won't be home. I am also satisfied with the love I get from my family. When we are in love or when we love the people around us, every day is Valentine. Advance Happy Valentine to you and to all the people around you.

Valentine's Day is, and yet isn't, "just another day" for me.
My mother started a tradition of buying us small Vday gifts when I was young.. sometimes more elaborate than others, but still something small - A simple reminder that we are loved.
I've carried on that tradition. For 10 years, I've bought my daughter a small gift for Valentine's Day, as well as the person that I was in a relationship with at the time. This year, I get to add a beautiful step-daughter to the mix.
People deserve to know that they are loved and appreciated, no matter what day of the year that it is. I KNOW that I am very lucky to have two beautiful, well behaved children and a husband that loves and cares for me so deeply. They deserve to always know that they are appreciated.

It's another independence day for me. But I guess it's okay as long as I have a date with my family and friends.
I do wish one day I'd find someone to spend valentines with romantically.

Valentines day should not only be a day. We must arrange love and responsibility to celebrate it. So that, from the core of heart, we can give love and recieve love. We must better turn our love into responsibility to make the day great.

That's very correct Kashidanga1971. We owe it to our partners, love ones and family. Making each day a great day for those people around us.

Yeah! That's a nice idea. I like feel good movies and usually, during this season, there's a lot of good movies on the television set. That way I can save on the expense.
Nice share pal!

It will be the first time I am away from home, (in hostel now). Every year me n mum would make something, be it cakes n stuff and this time I'll be missing those days badly. On the other hand I'll be celebrating with my college buddies, go out somewhere, have fun. On a personal level, am just curious to see what happenes that day because in school days valentine day is not a big deal, but in college its totally different. Lets see what happens. :)

yes, you are so right. a lot of people are not happy about valentines day because they don't have a significant other. valentines day is about love. love comes in all forms. who ever doesn't have a boyfriend has family. who ever doesn't have family they have friends like family. everyone has someone they love and who loves them. as long as you have someone to love in your life, valentines day is about sharing it with that person on that day.

I think, the 1st part of my day will be spent doing my job - it's Thursday, work day.

Hi Angelpink.
Just like some of our friends here, I believe you can do anything special whatever day it may be. Just don't get bothered by others. I just reply to those who tells me what are my plans on that day -- I answer them, I will be working and do something that I would need to do like write, draw or take photos.
My Sr. officer always tells me that I'm very independent and I just tell them "Thanks".
Cheer up!!! It will pass just like any other day.

Wow! It's either you don't celebrate the season or you have a routine life. No offense but I hope when you say it's like any other day, it means positively - a great day each day.
Have a nice and great day!
