The size and number of the fish should be dependent on the size of the aquarium. And the fish that is most likely to survive are goldfish and guppies. You need to clean the water everyday coz it will get polluted after one day. Also, make use of water that has been set aside for atleast a day. Never place fresh water directly to the fish coz the chlorine in the water might cause the fish to day. Better use a water that has been collected atleast a day ago then, just pour out half of the water from the aquarium then fill it in with the clean water. That was how we do it in our petshop. And it has also been the frequent question of kids who would come by and ask for an inexpensive fish that they can take care of.

You asked the right person I have tropical fish in my aquarium at home. I especially like to have guppies because they can labor guppy babies easily. Soon you will have a lot of guppies in your aquarium and you will find it fun. Besides, they don't eat so much and they are small. It is quite easy to raise them.

I know beta are good without a pump. But you cant have more then one male beta because they are fighting fish. They will kill each other. Not sure about the females.'

I bet you brought them home in bags right. Did you let the bags sit in the tank and let the water temp adjust before putting them in the tank?
