What is it that you do differently

We grow up doing things the way we are taught. It could be our parents, the school and even society that we follow. But at times we go 'off the beaten track' doing things differently that could makes us stand out. I am different in many ways. I do not believe in religious rituals, I do not follow fashion. I wear what makes me comfortable, and so on. What makes you different? It could be your eating habits, sleeping at odd hours .......... so many things. Do share.

I take my baths late night specially during the summers. I remember once it was 3 am and the last time it was around 1 am when my landlady came up to check out if all was okay with me.
Then, my sleeping hours are completely odd. I sleep most of the day and work late nights. have been doing this way since I was in college and so I think today, it is a part of my life - and nothing that special for me. But then, when I find others telling me that I should change my habits, I find it difficult.

i do everything different from the way i was taught. my parents, school and society tells me to work in the day and sleep at night. i sleep at night and work in the day. lol. my parents taught me that it was important for me to get into a high profession or on the corporate ladder. i am a stay at home mom. i could go on and on, but i don't think that i am anything like my parents, school, the military, or society taught me to be.

Circumstances make us do different things sometimes even against our own wishes. Now, I don't get you. You do the same thing that your parents, school and society taught you that is sleep in the night and work during the day! Have I missed something here - between the lines may be?
You are one great lucky lady to be a stay at home mom. These days to make ends meet a mom has to work too. Your kids are truly blessed.!

I didn't like following my parents' religion and I questioned it when I was really young but not without following it first. I wouldn't determine what truth was right for me if I wasn't a follower, that way I could examine both sides having experienced being a follower and not a follower. What people call my being picky with guys was only because of my own discriminating taste so as not to be taken advantage by the wrong ones. I have few groups of close friends and I can be an introvert in one group and be talkative in another group.

So you are a dual personality. Good idea really, so that you can switch over from one personality to another depending on where you are! This indeed is rare! So when will you decide on which personality you finally want to be?

Oh gosh..what don't I do differently? I suppose I may have been considered a bit of the black sheep in the family but in the same sense the elders in my family loved me for that trait. Now there are more non elders than elders and that did pose quite a problem for me. After the elders passed..I left the family and became my own. I only stayed for them and they knew that. I do carry some things with me but there are alot of things that I have done very differently.

I guess the one different thing that I do, compared to other women my age is that I don't go to the hair salons and spend money to have a beautiful hair. Almost all the women I know do that. When you walk on the street almost every woman have rebonded or straingtened and colored hair. My hair is virgin, and so far I don't have plans to have it that way. I don't have a beautiful hair, I'm okay with my hair, and I guess that's the thing that I do differently

And so all eyes are set on you - here goes a girl with natural, virgin hair. Wow! That makes sense but I too am guilty of visiting salons. Earlier I have done everything to my hair permed it, sprayed it, and what not. Now I keep my hair short and none of those things I did in the past will ever be done now.

Oh, no sorry, but it does not make me stand out. It just made me different from everyone else. There's the difference!

Not me, it's my husband. He eats rice mixed with ketchup, garlic sauce and honey. In the morning he's eating bread with piece of meat mixed with jam or honey and cheese or magarine or butter, really weird taste. I've never met someone who's mixing and eating foods like he does and finds it delicious.

My spontaneous reaction to this topic was that I don’t do anything different and though I do not follow fashion or look at others for my behavioral pattern or even attitude or reaction, on second thoughts I feel I think differently. I am good in lateral thinking on an issue and quick resourcefulness. People at home say that I bring a new dimension and am quick in solving some difficult issue.

A second Peter Drucker in the making perhaps!? Every family needs to have someone who approaches a situation differently providing ample angles to it.

I'm sure you've already conjured up thoughts of; "how off the beaten path, that weirdo is!"...LOL!
Some days my drum just beats differently and I don't subscribe to the norm! I do confine my somewhat "swimming upstream" to times alone! Life can be a little more interesting when you go against the flow and that truly is a blessing of being solitary. For the many years of my marraige, I was the epitome of the "good-wife!" Now, I eat when I am hungry...not conventional breakfast, lunch and dinner, like a wild animal--when I am hungry! I sleep when I am tired, sometimes under the shade of a tree, I do NOT follow fashion, nor do I wear make-up daily..nor is there anything in my demeanor that makes me trendy!
And mostly, I think I love and have more compassion for animals, that humans.

Love for animals is sure not in line with what society thinks. Full marks for you there and about eating I too break rules. I had cake the other day for breakfast! It is such a blessing to do what pleases and not all are in that category!

Do your timings affect anyone else around you? Sometimes because of other people around the house we are forced to stick to certain schedules. How do you handle that?
I remember I had a guest who got up late disturbing our schedule. She had to make do with a cold breakfast!

Each one is quite unique or different in some ways, that's makes us who we are, a personality that defines of what others would think about, but it's more relevant of what you think of yourself most probably, lol! The fact that indifference may seem to be normal to some and sort of not standard to some.

What will it cost you just to tell us in what way you are different! It is interesting to know how each of us have our odd likes and dislikes and even idiosyncrasies
