What do you have in the Spring Festival?

Today is Spring Festival, or Chinese New Year. It is really a special day for Chinese. In tradition, it is the very time for us to have good food. But as now it is really easy for us to gt food materials, I can not think out anything special for today.
My family is not a big family, so we can not eat too much. We have crabs as the special dishes and chafing dish. It is a little strange for a Chinese family.
Friends, can you share what you have in the day?

Every time I talk about this special festival to my students and all of them show much interest in it and ask many questions about that but for me, honestly, it seems no more special or impressive but a good time to meet our cousins or relatives who we can not visit so frequently.
Anyway , i still think this festival is great and happy new year and wish everyone all the best

Many of my friends have s big family, so Spring Festival is the time for them to celebrate with their uncles, aunts and cousins. While my family is so small, I do not have any uncle, aunt and cousin. Now we have two in the family, my mom and I.
So we try to have a good time in the family. Spring Festival seems a punishment for us. We have to stay at home, and as only the local left in the city, we do not have place to go shopping.

Spring Festival is really a good time for we can have more than 7 days vocation.
So many people use the time to meet someone who are not easy to meet in normal days, visiting friends in other city or arranging a classmates reunion become the popular programs.

It is ok and do not take it too seriously and for me, spring festival is also a great time to meet my classmates or friends from junior high school or senior high school or even elementary school. We can not choose our relatives or how many of them, but to keep contact. So taking spring festival as a kind of good moment to accompany your family is aslo great. Enjoy it

Yeah, I heard that it is Chinese New Year and "Tikoy" was the known dish or food for this season of Chinese. I do not have any Chinese friend but I do respect their celebration. We are Filipinos and some were celebrating this season like of Filipino Chinese here in our country and I heard Chinese are used to have always a lucky charm.

There are many Festivals in Chinese for family reunion. But now most of them lost that function, the Spring Festival is the only left. So people here try their best to spend the time with their family members in the vocation.
So at the time, money is not into consider, people will buy some special food and new clothes for their family members.

Hi,
Not much here, we celebrated New Year more than a month ago, we do not follow Chinese traditions that much even if my wife is of Chinese decent (her grandpa comes from Macau) so we don't have something extraordinary for this day. Hanging around the house and setting things in order are all I have to do.

In past, food material was hard to get, so people will try to have some good food when with friends or with family members. Furthermore, delicious food is a good thing to make people happy.
Now it is easy to get food, we can have special food in a common day, so the happiness bought by food is hard to find out.
