I am just wondering why they are always associating popcorn when watching movies either in movie houses or at home. In my case, I hate eating while watching movies especiially chips or any that will create munching sounds. It really disturbs me. What are your thoughts about this mylotters?

Eating while watching movies is a world wide habbit. I dont know why specifically popcorn. It is probably because of the movie theaters serving that kind for years. Also popcorn is easy to grab so is chips or candy. Those are also junk foods so we crave them. The noise in a theater can be bothersome if someone isn't polite enough to try to be quiet. That's why I enjoy movies at home instead so I don't have to deal with the people. Plus the prices are outrageous so why spend so much on snacks I can have for less at home.

Same here, I'd rather watch movies in my laptop with headset than going to cinemas though the quality if you are watching cinemas is really different. I was really wonder why they popcorn is really famous when it comes to cinemas.

Maybe this is one great reason for the popcorn. Also, this is not noisy when eaten.

Its just easy to grab. Something that's small, easy to eat, tasty for most and not too fattening.

Well, watch a movie and eat popcorn at the same time, it is an entirely American tradition. In my country (Italy) do not have this tradition. In cinemas which are now almost all the multiplexes, popcorn are regularly sold to the public, but pratically nobody crunches during the screening of the movie. Country you go, culture that you find

We had also popcorns in the public and we love to buy it. I just observed that most cinema houses here in our country, popcorn is always present.

well, the media and capitalist ventures are successfully able to create a perfect need in the consumers' mind such as for moviegoers to have popcorn when they watch movies. it is like one goes with the other to enhance the experience of movie watching. in my case, i like to watch in silence. i do not like the disrupting sounds of plastics and chips around me when i watch movies. i am ok with water to last me an hour or so. no need for food or snacks for me.

I think one best way is to eat first before going into movies. Like you, I really have hearing palstics and munching chips inside the movie houses. As much as possible I will not bring anything inside the house.

Ha ha ha Good thinking. I am going to search on internet of why they always associate it with popcorn when watching in movie houses. I am also curious about it, but one thing I know is that they have a snack for every one and it is easy to carry that is why popcorn is so famous for movie houses.

Anotehr thing is that pocorn seems to make you full while watching movies and you will not get hungry for the next 2 hours of watching.

Well, popcorn doesn't really make much noise--maybe that's why it is served so often at the movies. But I really can't imagine watching a movie without eating popcorn...in fact, sometimes I bring my family to the movies just so I can get movie popcorn--yum! But even when we are watching movies at home, we make popcorn to go with it. It is probably psychological, but I really do associate movies and popcorn--they just seem to go together. Kind of like baseball games and hotdogs or cotton candy at the circus...

I think you got a point. Popcorn only makes sound when cooked. hehehe. Chips are really noise maker. At home, I never used to eat popcorn when watching. Better to have sandwich and juice.

I don't really know for sure why, but all I can think of is that theater owners take advantage of all the profits they can make out of movie goers. For one, its easy to cook and easy to carry since its just light. Also, the mere smell of popcorn makes a person thinks that he's hungry even though he's not. At least thats what I read somewhere. And with them being distracted by the movie, its very easy to sell them popcorn.

I think vendors of this snack really creates a lot of money since you will only need small amounts of corn to make a bucket of it sold in cinemas. Furthermore, they are already creating different varieties of this one. They added some flavors to make it more appealing and tempting to movie-goers.

We really need to be quite as possible in the movie theater to avoid disturbance to others too. However, there are still others that seems does not care. They bring in food in plastics that you can hear the sounds as they get food on it.

it is quite weird how people always love eating popcorn when watching movies- i wonder who started it. I guess it is one of the best food to eat when watching movies.I like doing it too. i eat some food when i am watching a movie- almost all the time. it is not a huge bother to me, and since the movie is quite long, i get hungry anyway.
