The famous Indian Hindi Film Star Aamir Khan wedded Kiran Rao who is a film maker and producer after his divorce with his first wife few years back. Since Kiran Rao had some Uterine infection followed by her miscarriage last year, this couple had some problem in conceiving a child normally. So under the guidance and supervision of experts this couple has decided to have a baby with IVF and surrogacy technique! In normal conception the egg is fertilized by the sperm in the fallopian tubes of female reproductive organ and the embryo thus conceived there descends down into the uterus to grow as baby. But in case if there is any problem in the fallopian tubes or the uterine lining then the baby may not be either conceived or even if got conceived can’t survive to the full term. Depending upon the status of the Uterus experts may suggest the required technique out of IVF or Surrogacy or both. In IVF technique the egg and the sperm are collected from the legal parents and they are fertilized in Vitro that means they are fertilized out side the natural body. Then this fertilized embryo is transferred into the uterus of the mother. This technique generally adopted in the patients who are having a normal functional uterus with defective fallopian tubes. In such cases the egg fails to get conceived in the mother. In the event if the mother is not having a healthy uterus to support a baby then the embryo thus conceived from the legal parents are transferred into some other mother who is having a healthy uterus upon getting legal consent from her. Thus the mother in which the fetus is growing is in fact is not her own. Genetically this baby belongs to some one else but she is simply surrogating the baby. So in case of Aamir Khan couple since Kiran Rao had problem with Uterus because o infection the baby boy was conceived out side her body from her egg and Aamir Khan’s Sperm and the embryo thus conceived is transferred to a surrogate Uterus where the baby was grown to full term to born on 1st of December 2012.
