Lowering my pulse rate

I tried to sell plasma twice last week. I was unsuccessful because they said my heart rate was too high. Is there anything I can do to bring down my heart rate? I could really use the money. I have tried breathing exercises to relax. It is cold in the room, so I don't know if where something warmer would help. Any suggestions?

I have never sold any of my blood products but I donate platelets about every three weeks. I have only had kind of high pulse rates one time. That was right after a meal. My advice to you is to try to donate fairly early in the day, but not right after eating. Avoid all caffeine and if you smoke, do not do that before your donation time either. Do not hurry to try to get where you are going, but take your time, nothing strenuous physically before hand. Get plenty of sleep the night before, and while they are checking your pulse relax, tell your brain you are relaxed. Breathe deeply and slowly. Those are the things that usually work for me to lower my heart rate. I understand that you need the money, but do not be focusing on that and stressing.
