When I was still a kid, I got sick due to an expired meal that I still ate. It didn't smeel bad and even its taste. I vomit and my head ached really bad. Fortunately my auntie was with me she took care or me until I regained my strength again, my little brother also help me by buying something to make me feel well again. After this incident I always check first all the food that I will eat, if it tastes foul or bad I wouldn't eat it or I would not finish it just to be sure.

Right., we should always be careful on what we eat specially those left overs and in the fridge that we don't know when it has been there.. anyways its a good thing that your aunt is with you to take care of you.. it is hard to be sick alone specially with your case that you have been poisoned... so be always careful so it won't happen again..

Also, things older than 4/5 days even in Fridge could be a bit risky. So, be careful when eating such things. As for outside food, freshly prepared one, or one with proper expiry date is a must.

We can smell it if that food is still good or not. Sometime if i'm not sure i ask my mom to smell it because she have a lot of experience. Hehe.

This last Thanksgiving, we had just moved to a new area. Without family or friends near, and staying in a hotel, we went out to a place to get dinner. It was alright, and nothing seemed to be off in temp, taste or smell. My son refused to eat anything. We ended up with food poisoning, all but my son. He seems to be really good about not eating things that end up being bad. Though there was no indication that there was anything wrong with this food.

Yes dear friend, we may be affected by food poisoning, if we drink/eat any drink/food, whose life is already expired. We must see the date of expiry of foods stuffs carefully. Because we should not neglect the lives of our family members specially our teen aged children are more vulnerable to food poisoning. Have a very nice day.

That's a very unpleasant experience but i know you've learned you lesson from that experience. When I was young I am also careless in eating food good thing I never experienced to eat spoiled food or got sick maybe because my grandmother taught me how to know if the food can be eaten or not.

it;s understandable, an honest mistake, because as you said, you didn't notice anything weird in terms of smell or taste. but it's amazing how our body knows better and immediately rejected it. we have eaten expired food also with no side effect so maybe it depends on the ingredients. or it could be an allergic reaction. of course it's always better to be safe than sorry, when it comes to food and drink. after all, health is wealth.

Well, there are some food items that need to be carefully checked for their expiry date(s). Some of these could rote after some time, and could cause problems if taken after their expiry. Still, there are many items which may not cause so much harm for say 1 month after their expiry date, but could cause some issues if consumed very late.
