I’m hardly a famous person but I think it would be prudent to write my own obituary now. If people can legally write their will at this age, I think it will be safe and good to do the same with obituaries. Although many people I know will shudder at the thought and don’t accept my reasons of being prepared, I think it is much better to write own obit, whether one is famous or not and let the people who left behind judge whether it worthy ot publish or not.

Good luck if you're writing one. I'm now struggling to find good and adequate words to describe myself.

being prepared on anything is something people doesn't see as normal, but for me its okay to be one. as they always say, you can never expect what will happen to you the day, or the next hour or the next minute, so one should be prepared, after all, we all have someone that will be left out if that happens.
Having your obituary ready is actually something to be shuddered, but if people realize how this can be just a simple preparation of the future,as part of our lives, they will understand. After all, your preparing for your own, not on them, and besides, nobody really knows when we will leave this world, so better be ready. :)

I have no issues about writing and obituary. However, wouldn't it be nicer if our friends or loved ones write the obituary for us? I would rather have my friends and family write an obituary for me because they are the ones who know me well. They'd be able to relay to people my 'image' as they see me. It would contain beautiful and awful things about how they think of me as a person and how my journey in life had been with them. This would sound more touching. I believe that no one knows us better than ourselves but it would be better to hear from others how they see you when you're still alive.

I don't think that I would be very at ease having to write my own obituary. It just doesn't seem right to write about your own passing. It is like watching yourself die and see how others react to it. I would rather leave the obiuary for someone to write when I am gone.
