I think I have choose the right food, but wrong with the amount. I have checked my food list, all of them are health, fruits, vegetables, fishes and some meats for the meals. Snacks are milks and yoghourts. But I think I usually eat 1.5 times than normal people, which makes me take in too much energy than I really need. Now I try to take less and do more exercises to lose weight.

hi neelia Yes we are all responsible for our own health. I try to eat right to keep my blood sugar as normal as possible but its hard when you cannot prepare your own meals. For people with diabetes this retirement center does not help us much. But I just halve the amounts of pastas and rice they serve. As for rice few diabetics can eat much of it as it raises your blood sugar too high. I love their homemade vegetable soups and always ask for seconds.I just want to add a little chocolate the dark kind is good for your heart health as it contains antioxidants so give yourself permission to eat a piece daily if you wish.

Yes I agree with you. I have recently started watching what I eat more. Trying to eat more fruits and vegetables as well as watch my portion sizes. I'm trying to lose weight and I hope that within a few months I will be able to reach my goal. I'm glad to hear that you are working on eating better.

I eat healthy 80% of the time. I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables (fruits in my smoothies and vegetables in my sandwich's) I love the way I feel after I have eaten some good greens. Junk food really does make me feel bad. I get "sugar bloat" my stomach feels bad and it gives me pimples. Yes, limit processed junky foods and eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, the true fountain of youth.

Nice consideration you have here but unfortunately I find this very difficult to keep up. I don't take much fruits but I do eat vegetables a lot. I keep eating fish at home too. My mom is diabetic so basically the food that we prepare in the house is more on her favor. This makes me crave for those junkfoods and sweet stuff when I'm not in the house. So when I'm at work, I let myself eat anything I want. Hahaha! But you're right, we only got one life. However, with my age now, I still want to enjoy life at the most. So I'll still keep eating those unhealthy stuff. Don't follow me though. Just do the right thing.

Absolutely! I learned the hard way the importance of life-giving foods. Now, I totally practically avoid all junk foods and foods that have little nutrition. I do not like being sick, so why should I deliberately invite sickness and poor hearth? All the best in your health endeavors!

We all come to realise it at some point in our life. I too am particular now and have cut down on my favourite food - chocolates. But the trouble is I get gifts from those who come from abroad. Just a week ago my nephew landed with a bagful of goodies - all that I should keep away from. But I shall consume it in small doses. It is not everyday that I get such gifts!

Well, I believe that health starts basically from a good and proper nutrition. I personally eat the meals that my mother prepared (and I must say that it's all genuine), but I have to denounce a few pounds overweight. This is due fundamentally to what I eat outside of regular meals. So I should also start to limit myself to eat snacks, pastries, and other sweets (these usually eat them after the afternoon nap and then at around 16.00). In addition to the feeding in my life there would be other things, to change habits. What are these, that at the moment I'm not to list.

I said the same things, over and over, which means it didn't really sink in for me. I hope you are more resolute in your choice. We all know we should eat from fruit and veggies, but somehow the other distractions are more powerful, even though less colorful. Imagine dark BROWN chocolates compared to RED apples or bright ORANGES. I wish you well.

I admit that I don't eat healthy. I've been snacking with junk food and have less exercise over the year because I've been lazy. Eating not healthy food also add up to being lazy since you don't have the right nutrition to exert energy to start an active life. I know exactly what eating healthy means but I tend not to do it right. Maybe because it's a little more expensive to eat healthy since you would be buying lots of fruits and vegetables. The taste would also matter because tastier food usually have preservatives and the healthy food is usually not as good. Well you should be really determined to eat healthy because there should be consistency to eat healthy for the rest of your life.

Good to know as early as now you decided to choose a healthy food for your own good health. Since last year I started to eat healthy food and cook my own food as much as possible because its more healthy, cheap and clean than to those food that we can buy outside or in fast food restaurant.

You are right it is better to prepare our own food than buying anywhere because we really don't know how they prepared it and what ingredients they put in there.. its better to be careful than sorry..

I eat extremely healthy now, in comparison to what I used to eat. I'm not trying to lose weight or anything, I'm actually trying to gain it, because that's what my dietician wants! I am currently recovering from an eating disorder, but right now my problem is that I eat too healthy! I can't eat junkfood, even if I try. Now that I'm doing much better though, I've become a vegan, and my food choices are entirely organic and healthy!

Now that I am not that young, I do try to be more cautious with what I eat and the amount of food that I eat. I feel that as one gets older, it takes quit awhile before one gets slimmer, especially with lack of exercise. So fruits and vegetables should always be part of the daily diet of people.

Its a good plan to start your year Neelia! eating good food and healthy options reflects on what you plan to do to your life, you start by deciding to do right to your body, and that is very good :) I remember i started eating good food and slowly eliminating colas, sweets and grains when i realize i am gaining weight more and more everyday. I have to decide whether to chose to be in good shape that can be achieve to have a change of lifestyle or just splurge yourself sinful foods and bloat after. :) I think many people are starting to realize that one a a time.
