is it just me, or is it that when you are trying the cross the street, drivers will try to increase the speed as you are trying to cross the street?! it is like they are trying to hit you. when i finally learn how to drive, when i see people trying to cross, i will let them. i will not increase my speed as soon as they cross the street. how do you all feel about this? is it just me?

Those crazy b@stards don't need to be driving. Fortunately I've only experienced this once in my life. This person actual signaled me and my friend to go ahead and cross and my friend pulled me back on the side walk before I got hit.
They must think they win points for running us over.

see, i have been hit by a car before by someone hitting the gas instead of the breaks. it was a new driver. that's why i am so antsy. especially when i am with my kids.

I think expect you to wait for them to go by or to look out for them when you actually have the right of way. Maybe they increase their speed because they think they can get around you. SOme people are selfish now days and self serving. They don't care about others. That is why good people need to be very vigolant and good.

i guess you are right. maybe the feel they can ride across and still let me cross at the same time. lol. although, i don't understand how they think that will work out.

To some it's a game, but if they do hit someone the consequences for seeing it as a game can be too dire. Some people when they get behind a wheel of car it transforms them into something possessed that they own the road and anything that walks out in the road is fair game. And some people just shouldn't be behind the wheel of a car in the first place if they think it's fun to run people over!

I find a lot of drivers are very unconcerned regarding pedestrians. I abide by the rules as a pedestrian as I taught my children to and as you said many cars speed up when you are trying to cross. Other things that bother me is when it is raining or slushy cars seem to try and splash you with the muck if your walking on the sidewalk. I've had that happen on more than one occasion. And almost no one cares about crosswalks. They just keep speeding through and don't care that they are supposed to slow down and let pedestrians cross!!! GRRRR! (Thanks for giving me a place to rant!)

i think what they are trying to do is make you have to run across the street and dodge them. it's probably funny to them.
