Don't get me wrong. I am not talking of music here but those sounds that bring a cheer in my life. The chirping of cuckoos that wake me up, I have a 'temple bell' and exactly at 7 each morning I am expected to hear its sound - my domestic staff's arrival time,
the post man who rings his cycle bell, the phone that rings after it is repaired, the pump that works after days when the plumber attends to it. I could go on and on about sounds that remind me that it is worth living after all. Each house has a set of sounds that rings in the new day. What sounds do you feel are worth waiting for. Do share.

i like hearing someone whistling a song, any song, especially those who that are loud and clear. it's so different from singing and you find yourself humming along with it even after they're gone.

Whistling would be as good as listening to music according to me. If those who can whistle in a professional way I would even say that sound better than music. But I want you to tell me the kind of sounds, the routine one's that make your day!
And as for background music, surely you could have your own. I do that sometimes. I have a whole lot of recorded music in my comnputer

This is weird but the sound that I am always waiting to hear is the banging of the gate when my eldest son arrives from school. He would be coming home late sometimes and that gets me into trouble with my husband coz I allow my son to come home late. But what can I do if he comes to the mall with his friends sometimes, right? So as soon as I hear the gate giving that loud thud sound, I feel relieved not just because my husband would not get mad but of course, knowing that my son was able to come home safe.

We have this guy he gets the fish on a motor bike and that sound again is so soothing specially when I have guests and I cannot go out to buy my fish!

That must be a beautiful sound for that moment even if the gate is banged having may be to repair it at a later date Sounds that are ugly but that which give us joy are the sounds that I am looking for. Yours is a typical example of an ugly sound that gives you joy!

Hahah! You've got a weird friend here, allknowing! But really, I don't know any sound that could really give me some peace of mind other than that gate. Well, I just had it repaired twice last week, actually!

In the house I lived earlier, there were many birds in the vicinity and right in the morning we could hear their nonstop chatter and chirping. One particularly wonderful sound was the whistle of a Magpie Robin. This sound was one which I would love to wake up to. In fact, it could even whip my dormant Muse too.
Right now I have shifted .Currently there is another one—this is of my little two and a half year old grandson who suddenly sang four lines of one song [which I usually sing for him] in exactly the same way I sing.It was not even off-key.Needless to say he took us all by surprise. But, in typical pervert childlike fashion, the little devil now recites it like a poem and he does it with a naughty twinkle in his eye too when I tell him “No! No! I want the other one.”[In Tamil] and repeat my exact words once again. I am never bored of hearing his song. He sang it over and over again the first day and that too in a loud voice but now he has stopped. I am waiting now for his good mood.
Apart from this all routine sounds are worth waiting for because it shows my life is on its usual routine and that God is keeping me well.

It is difficult to recite a song in prose form and your fellow does that. Try and you will know what I am talking about! Smart fellow, I must say

I have always liked the soud of a cuckoo clock. Alarm clocks and other digital clocks don't just have the same sound to listen to. Cuckoo clocks are also a beautiful decoration to any home.

I have a cuckoo clock in my house. I had bought it from Germany when I was touring Europe. Mine is a small one and so the sound is not so loud but I too like its sound.
when we were there,we were taken to the factory that were making these clocks. The factory house is shaped like a cuckoo clock. We had to be there at twelve noon when the big clock would strike twelve times with the dolls dancing. It was a wonderful experience.

I love the sound of the wind during the storm... the trickling of the rain and the sound of waves along the sea. Also, I like the sound of the flowing water. Those are the sounds that comforts me.

Don't you get tensed up when you hear the wind during a storm snow..... I would feel a bit uneasy as anything can happen during that time. But the sound of the trickling rain would only make one stay home in the cozy comforts of their couch sipping hot coffee and watching their favourite soap on tv. Do you also take advantage of the situation and make the best of it. What would be your choice?
The sound of waves no matter how wild they may be there is something in them that can comfort anyone. Sitting by the sea lost to the world could be any one's choice over all else.

You do have sophisticated choices! I have enough of those birds chirping away the whole day through as I have specially designed my garden with birds in mind.
The sound of a burning candle is new to me. That must be some sound emily...! Yes the light rain specially the first shower. I wanted to add that in my list too.
From what I gather you sure have a lovely environment around you!

Wow, thank you so much, your garden sounds lovely! Yes, when you get close you can almost hear it sizzling, especially when the wick is close to burning out. Rain is always good in the mornings, and I know it's not a sound, but waking up and looking out the window to see thick fog for as far as you can see makes me so excited for the day!

I love it when I open my window and hear birds singing and some of the store employees la ghing and joking on their way into th store to work. It takes a bit of getting used to listening to their language as so many words sound like ducks quacking but its nice to hear for me as it means these people have jobs and are happy and that good to hear,Here in Orange county so many people are out of work and the waiting rooms of the welfare offices must be jam packed with families wanting help while the men and women are looking for work. Here in Gold Crest the sounds of being called to meals is comforting to hear, the meals not so good but still we have to eat.oh and the bird whistler sounds as my computer loads its tray of icons, life is good.oh and the sounds of the ice cream lady as she drives around and stops to get us to bu y from her.

You will never grow will you! Sound of the ice cream lady calling out - oh! that must be the best sound and yes announcing about food having been served. One cannot survive without these sounds. All the sounds that you hear while you live your life are interesting and must be pepping you up somewhat!

Well when i am at my sister's house the sounds i like are of my 9 yr old niece and 4 yr old nephew laughing or playing. At home the sounds that make me happy are of hubby cooking dogs playing birds chirping in the morning. I have alot of different sounds that make me happy but depends on where i am and what the sounds are at that place.

Hi allknowing,
The knock on our door...I shared the room with my nephew and my sister. So each morning during school days, my mom would knock on the door to wake him up for school.Quite annoying when I am still sleepy, but I still appreciate it. This reminds me that I have to get up and prepare for work also.

We take these sounds for granted least realising the role they play in our day to day life. Imagine if your mother did not knock on the door. You would be sleeping I bet the full day through and your nephew would miss school. If I do not hear that bell at the gate at 7 in the morning, that would mean I would have to do all that work that they normally do. That sound is better than the best music - even Beethoven would take the second place!

I would not like to mix the good and the bad
I quite understand the joyful sounds of a mother's voice and the laughter of a child but I don't quite get you when you say you do not like the sound of the ringing of the bell announcing the arrival of your husband. I hope I have understood you correctly. Is there something about your husband that you are not happy about.
