Getting lost in the cyber-space

There are too much or abundant information over the internet. When I do research, I get lost on which to click. Usually, I spend more time reading trivial info that many have looked at. But usually, the academic writings are not so popular. They usually end up at the last pages or higher page number during an engine search. It frustrates me most of the time. Urggg...
Do you have the same experience? What do you suggest?

I can relate to what you mean. But maybe it's just because the academic writings weren't so search engine optimized. When doing research I do really need to scroll down up to the 10th page if I have to.

I guess, that will always be the case. The technique now would be to just look at the titles and open links that looks promising.
Anyway, why am I complaining? It's a lot easier now compared to the time when you have to go and scour the city to look for libraries and books.
