These days economy is bad. So you have to save every penny you had. Of course you would still pay for good quality stuff that you really really want. But at the same time you still want to compare prices of the said item and maybe get a few dollars cheaper.

Sometimes, the quality of things do suffer if we are on a tight budget. But you can do some experiments on those uncommon brands and maybe you can find out that there are inexpensive brands that are just the same as those expensive ones. It's more like a hit and miss thing.

I have been frugal for as long as I can remember. Even when I had a very well paying job, I was frugal; I used coupons, did not buy unnecessary things, shopped sales, etc. There are so many times that I see shows like Good Morning America doing a feature on how to be frugal with these guest experts and almost all the time the advice they are giving is just common sense. It really makes me wonder about the majority of the people in the U. S.; are they really that devoid of common sense and being practical.

Maybe they just have too much money to splash about? Or perhaps they just can't control their impulse on buying something. But still without those kind of people how will some business survive? Like the fine art business, greeting card business, and etc.

I do try to live in a more frugal way due to the bad economy. I compare supermarket prices of the goods I wish to get and shop around to get the cheapest ones. I find I can use less gas central heating and less electricity. I have put all bills on direct debit to pay monthly. I still need to be able to travel overseas.

I don`t buy many things besides the essencials. I have discovered that I can make cheaper and better food at home from scratch, so I do that. I save in many ways such as filling the washing machine before I make a wash (that means a load or, at the most, two per week). I gave away my dryer and hang my clothes to dry. I fill the dishwasher before using it. It pays to but some extra unexpensive mugs and dishes. I eat all leftovers. As I don`t like to eat the same thing over and over, I do different things with them. Some leftover pasta can be an omelette. If they had pesto, it turns into a minestrone.

There is no quality stuff that I really really want. Already not since years. Quality is not quality anymore, same with guarantee. Everything is made to be broke after 1 year. So why pay way more for just a name if it's not better? Why buying expensive stuff, the latest one if as soon as I bought it it's broke or already old fashioned? I Always compare prices, but first I ask myself if I really need it and if so for what occasion. BTW this has nothing to do with the "sudden" bad economy but with the fact I have to manage with the less money I have.

But what if the quality stuff last longer and may save you a few bucks in a long run? It's true that quality stuff is not quality anymore even you pay a lot for it and you can even get quality stuff for cheap.
Bad economy or not, I also have to manage the amount of money I have so that I have money for emergency.

I'm pretty frugal, but not completely. We still occasionally go out to eat, although I try to keep the cost of this down. We do compare prices and often think about whether we actually need something or just want it.

Unfortunately I'm unable to say that I am completely frugal. However, because of the upbringing that I had as a child, in many cases I do think that I am a very frugal person. I try to buy my groceries on sale all the time and when it comes to clothing for my children, my favorite places to shop are the thrift stores. You certainly do get a lot of bang for your buck when you are shopping at a thrift store.
And just yesterday, I got a new (to me) laptop. We went to the laptop consignment store and we were able to get a new computer that met my needs for less than half the price of a brand new laptop.

I know it has been rough on me as well. I have been saving as much money as I can, but yet I have needed to buy things. I am taking fun classes at JoAnns so I can learn valuable skills so I can sell things online. I am trying to not spend my money like it is going out of style. I used to never pay attention to money and would literally buy everything I wanted without looking at prices, but now that I am married I am very careful.

Yes, I can say that I am. I do a lot of bargain shopping even with groceries. I choose between three grocery stores what I need to buy. If the circular shows what I need significantly cheaper than the other two locations, that's where I go for everything. Sometimes, I have to split my purchases between two stores.

Yes, this situation of our economy this time, we must be more frugal and wiser when it comes to spending money. Prices is not a joke with those goods and services at the market. I am living alone and still I cannot save money on my own thinking that I am just living by myself. I am earning enough but it is just enough for my daily needs.

That's right, in this modern time it is best to be practical. There is absolutely nothing wrong in wanting to get your money's worth with the things we buy. Being frugal is a skill and most definitely a necessity.

For now, I cannot buy things that I wish to buy. The economic condition is still not supporting me to spend a lot of money. I need to save my money and be frugal so I can cover any unexpected needs. Once my economic condition getting better, I would like to buy stuff I really want.

Yep. I think I was born frugal. The economy doesn't have much to do with a certain mindset, but it has awakened more people to the fact that we can and need to control our money. Why pay more for something when you don't have to? It's silly to work hard for our money and then just waste it.

I do not have any loyalty to certain brands. For most things, I will buy whatever is cheapest, usually the store brand. If a name brand is on a good sale for cheaper than the store brand, or I have a coupon that will make it cheaper than the store brand, I buy it. For most groceries, the products are of equal quality so it doesn't matter to me.
For major purchases I do my research about quality, and make sure I am not buying something that will break in a few weeks just to save money. I expect electronics and furniture to last a long time, to save me money in the long run.

I think I became frugal when I got married because i always compare prices first before buying it or I asked myself first if i need the things or i just want to have it. Nowadays it really hard to earn money and lots of things are expensive including foods so we need to find a way to save money most of the time.

I think I am, although I admit that there are things which I do not scrimp on like healthcare and food. The rest especially wants and other luxuries, they take the backseat or I just go check thrift shops first. I am also not embarrassed to use coupons and vouchers and buy previously-owned items as long as they are still in good condition and does the job.

Time is so hard , money is not easy to find ,basic commodities are so expensive . We need to be smart and wise in spending. We need to be resourceful and should have an initiative . We should be able to identify needs from whims . An affordable local quality to a branded imported one. We should be strict and religious in prioritizing things.
