How about that snow storm?

I haven't been on for a long time due to the storm we had last week. Prior to the storm, we went out and salted our properties, but it didn't help at all, too much snow fell. On Friday we got off to an early start, we had to so we could try to keep up with all the snow we got. It was continuing to snow while we were out there, and by early afternoon we were completely soaked through. We had to give up as the snow wouldn't let up and we couldn't keep working while wet. We soaked through several layers of clothing. On Saturday, it looked like a foot of snow had fallen, but we had to get out there and clear it up. It was still snowing off and on, and when all was said and done, we got almost 2 feet of snow, even though we were supposed to get less than that. It took us over 13 hours to clear on Saturday and we never got done. Sunday was another long day of clearing heavy, wet snow as the temperature went up and the sun came out. Yesterday we had to go clear up a few more places that we hadn't gotten to, and it was even heavier as it was raining most of the day. My back has been killing me so much because of all of this, and tomorrow I finally get a day off, we don't know when there will be more snow. I have ordered a special back brace to help me out with my work, and I hope it works as well as I'm being told it will. We took the snowblower back to storage today, it hasn't seen so much use since 2008. We had to keep filling up the gas tank of the blower, it ran dry so many times because of the use. I am beyond exhausted, and am now finally relaxing and will be doing nothing tomorrow.

Hi Kris, I hope that now that a few days have passed that your back is feeling better. I'm in New England and we also got a lot of snow...3 ft. I actually love it even though the shoveling is a royal pain it the buttt. I think it is beautiful and actually was very excited for it and for the ones that ski and snowmobile etc.

My back is only today getting some rest since we've had to keep working through the weekend and into yesterday as well. We saw a few cross country skiers out there, they were enjoying it, but I haven't had any time to do anything fun, and now the snow is heavy and wet, useless to do anything with except make snowmen!

Well, rest up because I hear there is another storm coming in this weekend. Not sure how true that is. You have a whole lot more to do in these storms than I do which is probably why I can love them. I do shovel and have to drive in them but it is all minimal enough that i find them exiting.

We got hit pretty hard here. It wasn't so much the amount of the snow but the wind that piled it up. The front end of the family van was under six feet of snow. The back end was clear. Two bad about ten feet further back there was another drift that filled up the rest of the driveway. Cycled to work Sunday because there was no way to get the van out in time to get to work on time. Thankfully the roads were all plowed. The ride to work didn't turn out to be all that tough.

We were still cleaning up on Sunday, having lots of places to clear and lots of it to clear, it took that long to get everyone cleaned up. Exhausting to say the least.

It was beautiful, but hard work to clean up. I do get to relax now, but there's not much beautiful snow on the ground now. It's been melting due to rain.

Yes, both days were sunny which was nice. It's just hard work when you're doing work for others and not just your own property.

better for my country that the place is not that very cold especially when it comes in snow time, because people here can not survive if we will experience a snow storm,so we are contented even our country is a hot spot country.its a kind of disaster too.

I am glad you are alright. in this snow storm you all had, I know it had to be a lot of work shoveling all of that snow, that was piled up very high, I saw some of the pictures online, and how it had covered up, some on these cars.

My city is quite warm, but these year we have several snow storm. As we do not have the experience to deal with snow storm, salt is not widely used here. But we use rice leaves to avoid hurt. In a snow storm weather, cars are usually not used, bikes are also. People prefer to walk to their work place, but most of them are late. Food prices will go up as truck can not deliver the food into the city.

Hi I wish I had a snow blower.it would made easyer for me.then shoveling. but I always keep a shovel in my car.this year I have a 4x4 drive car so I do not really need to shovel the plow mest out any more but i do just to save gas in the truck.
