I am just wondering here in our place why minimum fare in tricycle is bigger than minimum fare in jeepney. Maybe because jeepney do have more passengers than tricycle? The minimum fare of jeepney here is just 8.00 pesos while in tricycle it is 10.00. I dont used to go out during weekends and just stay at home to relax so I really dont used to ride in tricycle. The last I ride in, I was surprised that minimum fare in jeepney is cheaper than minimum fare in tricycle. So if you are going to a nearby place or barangay that is just along the main road, better ride in a jeepney which is cheaper than riding in a tricycle. happy and smile... Ardoy0731...c",)

Are tricycles powered by human? That's probably why. People start to realize that human efforts need to be more appreciated especially as more and more are depending on machines.

It is a motorcycle with side car where passengers will ride in. Usually its one of the main means of transportation in the province since it is really accessible to streets that are quite narrow and cars cant go in. There are lots of this tricycle here in our place.

i also sometimes think like that, that why tricycle fair is higher than Jeepney minimum fare and beside they travel less rather than minimum kilometer of jeep

Oh yes that's another fact about it, they just travel less than jeepney. It really keeps me wonder as well but there are some explanations from other people based on their own opinions regarding this matter. For me, I will rather ride on a jeepney than a tricycle.

that is a lot cheaper. would you believe in some subdivision and villages they charge Php50 for a one way trip of about 2 kilometers away. i think the minimum fare is just the same with jeepneys. it just varies on the kind of location they are into.

yeah but in some exclusive villages only private vehicles and tricycles can go inside.you will have no choice but to ride the tricycle.

Wow 50 pesos for a tricycle fare, it should be a very long travel to pay for that big amount. I think it is better to ride in jeepney there wherein fare is cheaper. That is quite double for special trip here and in some places.

It's good that you just pay 10 pesos for your tricycle fare. Not like in our place, going to the mall which is barely a kilometer away, we pay 25 pesos!

The tricycles here do not allow other persons to ride once there is already a passenger. So the fare is assumed to be good for 3 persons. Actually, if I am trying to save some money, I do walk going to the Mall or just ride the jeepney instead.

Oh my that is quite higher and just like special trip in other place. Good thing tht we still have cheaper tricycle fare here in our place.I guess maybe due to so many tricycle around could be factor too. So if we think that we could just take it by walking we better walk than to ride especially if are not in a hurry or when our destination is quite near.

Yes, tricycles really charge higher than jeepneys, ardoy. In going to the subdivision in our place from the town . if you take the tricycle, it will be a minimum of PhP20 pesos or more than that. So, i always take the pedicab, "padyak" as we call it because it only charges PhP10 with me as passenger. If it's me and my husband it's PhP15.00. But if i go to town from the subdivision, where they park near our place, i only pay PhP7.00.

Oh good thing that there are pedicab in your place which is really cheaper than tricycle. I think that is just the way it is but I think its boundary is quite small.

Yes, the boundary is smaller. But honestly, i like riding in a pedicab, because it's open so i can truly smell & feel he fresh air and see the sights (if it is daylight still ) as it moves.

Tricycle is like a special ride because you can make it go to where you would want it to go or even make it bring you right in front of your house, the jeepney will only bring you down in the main road so you still have to walk. In our subdivision, you can even make them "special" where you do not have to share it with anybody or make it go without waiting for other passengers in the line, unlike a jeep filled with lots of people you do not know. Most trikes use gasoline while the jeep uses diesel which is cheaper in our country

With special trips, I think it is best to ask them first how much it would cost, some people make the mistake of taking special and then bargaining after they have reached their destination. Trike drivers in our place are very disciplined, they have uniforms, id's and follow proper dress codes, our Barangay also constantly check for things like lights, body number etc... we even enforce and they follow a number coding scheme inside our village.

hahaha. that is so true. :D hmm I think this is what we have here too. and yeah, i noticed that as well that the fare is so much more than what a jeepney asks, but yeah as you have said, that is probably so because the jeepney can accomodate more riders than the tryke which is only about 3 people, maximum of 4. Let me just share my experience though, the tryke says minimum is about 10 right, so when you have to ride one, then if you want a special trip it has to be 20 bucks only, but the trike here charges 25, and sometimes 30 bucks per trip and it is just very near! it was not even 1 kilometer! grrr.

Oh yes I also heard about it that sometimes some tricycle drivers charge higher fare during special trips. Some passengers just pay for it to avoid quarrel or misunderstanding and just deal it or think thats its their job that they are doing for their family. But letting it happened over and over again is not reasonable and have to stop.

13 Feb 13
It depends. We all know that there are assigned lines for trykes and a ride with them is 10 pesos. but if you want it fast and now, you have to pay for the privileged - hence the 20 peso rate. I have to agree that some drivers charge as much 40 pesos (happened during the fiesta) and I told the driver that I'm paying only 25 (as a consolation, there were no more trykes around) as long as he gets me straight home.

You are lucky that the minimum fare in your area is only 10 php... here in my City, it varies from barangay... where i live... it is actually 50 php... even though the city government already released an ordinance stating that it should only be 20 php... i already reported them... but until now nothing is being done about it... it other areas they charge 20 php or 25 php... I think it is but right for tricycle minimum fare to be higher than the Jeepney because they can only accommodate up to 3 passengers... unlike the jeepney...

Oh that is quite really high. Thats rven higher than falg rate of taxi or cab. Your local government should have to look on this and make an ordinance about it. It is quite over I guess. Usually tricycles could accomadate 4 passengers here sometimes it could even up to six passengers if some will back ride in the drivers motorcycle.

That's because they were seriously affected by the increasing popularity of scooters and economical small motorcycles. Most people especially boys nowadays are buying service motorcycle vehicles they longer ride tricycles.

I could be a factor I guess. But here in our place there are lots of people use motorcycle as their means of transportation. But I see some of them dont use and wear helmets which so important when riding a motorcycle in case an accident occur.

Maybe this is the practice in most places within the country as this is the same too here in our place. I'm wondering if there's no fare restrictions for this type of utility vehicles as in some cases tricycle drivers take advantage of passengers they recognize as new in the place. That is (aside from the higher than minimum rate)they are charging newcomers double the existing rates.

Thats the point, tricycle should also have fare guidelines and regulations just like jeepney and buses. With the help of this, exact and right fare in tricycle will be implimented and uniformed. I think it just their toda are the one deciding about this matter. Proper guidelines an regulations could really help a lot.

that is true because here in my place the tricycles ask for the payment going out of the town is 15 and when going inside they will ask for 20,even you are alone, that is why when i go to my work i will always walk going out of the town and it will takes 15 minutes only, also good for me because it will serve as my exercise too in the morning.

Seems to be weird to have higher fare. Its better to just walk if the place we are going to is quite near and just be walking distance especially if we have enough time or not in a hurry, we save some amount of money and at the same time did have exercise as well.

Simple- economies of scale. A tricycle seats 5 at most and a jeepney can squeeze 20 people in one ride. Also, a tricycle ride is more comfortable since there are less people less instance of the barker for everyone to squeeze into a sardine can. So you're paying for the space and convenience.

Hi ardoy! In our place it is just the same. For jeepney and tricycles the minimum fare 8.00. But I don't ride tricycles that much also especially if there is jeepney around. For shorter distance, II would prefer to walk in order to save some amount.

Oh good thing that is just the same un your place. I thought it just 9 here and I was surprised that the driver asked 10 during my last ride in tricycle. I also prefer to walk if the destination is quite near and walking is just okay. I alwasy enjoy walking especially if I am with some people with me.

Yes, special trips is even higher than the usual so it is really better to walk if our destination is quite near and if we are not in a hurry. Or rather ride in a jeepney which minimum fare is really cheaper.

Hi, Some trikes charge like that if your route is not on a regular road and that makes it a sort of "special trip" thus the "special" fare. We have a mode of transport here called "habal-habal" motorcycle in tandem, it cost a round trip to the city of 25 kilometers on a public vehicle for a one way trip to a hinterland barangay just three kilometers away. If I can, I would just take a walk if there's a lot of time to kill. Makes for a good aerobic exercise and less prone to accidents too.

I already heard and saw it in television couple times about this kind of trasportation. I hope it is safe to ride in. So far never tried to ride in a special trip here in our place cause I think there non here since streets here is quite accessible to tricycle.
