It's been 6 days since I quit.

I knew it was time to quit again, I've tried several times over the years and have always failed.
I'm planning on getting pregnant soon, and quitting smoking is what I needed to do. It's not easy to do, and I needed help.
Went to Costco last week and bought a 4 week supply of patches to help me get through this period. I have one left in the first week and I'm happy with this.
The first 2 days weren't the greatest due to the stress of the storm, but I got through it, even though I had constant cravings.
It's been getting easier, and hopefully will only get easier with time. I need to make this attempt permanent.
This is a challenge for me, but this time I'm willing to follow through with it and make it stick, for my health and the health of my child when I have one.
This will help me when I'm working as well, and that's a good thing.

Congratulations! Nicotine is actually more addictive than heroin! It also has all kinds of bad side affects besides the bad effects of the delivery system (the smoking habit).
I heard on the radio that to protect the health of your baby when you conceive, start taking folic acid NOW. It will protect your unborn child from severe autism and spinal bifida. The new study says that taking it before conception and continuing to take for at LEAST 2 months (8 weeks) is best for the baby, but they also said it wouldn't hurt to continue taking it the whole time.

Thank you. It's far from easy, but I'm getting by, one day at a time.
As for the folic acid, I have a supply for 200 days. I'm going to start taking it tomorrow, along with my B12 again.

As others have said, Congratulations! Quitting is not easy. I'm glad you find the patch is helping you. I couldn't resist the urge to smoke anyways while on the patch and my doctor said that could kill me so he won't prescribe me the patch again. Lol. I've tried the Zyban and it helped but I still didn't quit. I think it's a mostly mental issue. I'm glad you have the guts and the will power to stick it out. Gives me hope that when I'm ready to quit that I'll be able to.

You have to want to quit when you do try, and I guess that's always been my problem when I've failed.
Distraction is key, you need to keep your mind off of it so you don't think about it. You also need to change your routine so you don't think about smoking.
I take it one day at a time, that's all I can do right now.

Congrats for starting to quit smoking I know it is very hard but for your goal to have a child you can do it for your both sake. Just continue what your doing now and let yourself keep busy so you forgot the smoking habit. Keep it up!!!
