Recently, i heard in the news that some people were robbed off money in the atm not aware that it was happening to them. It was said in the investigation that the suspect used to put something in the machine that can copy the account number and some details of the account holder and transfer it in their computer. And some even put a "very" hidden camera and stick it in the atm machine using a bubblegum. The suspect/s already stolen millions of money and they can also make it like the withdrawal happens abroad. Kinda bizaarre, complicated but so scary. What's next now? How can we protect our hard-earned savings from this evil doers?

I also heard this - that the thieves were using some type of device that they put in Atms after people use them.....So its not just someone staring over your shoulder. The only thingI can think of is to check your accounts often!!

That modus operandi has been going on for quite a while now. That is why there are lots of news and warnings in banks on how to spot some suspicious stuff that shouldn't be found in a normal ATM machine.

The ATM I use is in the lobby of my bank and you need a card to open the door and get in. I never use it after dark but if by some chance someone did put a hidden camera on the machine of course I would be screwed!
