Changed your mind about cruise?

Watching what has happened to the Carnival Cruise ship Triumph is making me think twice about taking a cruise to anywhere! I've been on one cruise in my life and that was years ago and everything went great...Thank God! These people paid a lot of money for a comfortable cruise and I'm sure they will get their money back but I can't imagine the hell they are living through. Has this event changed your mind about taking cruises? Have you read about it and seen it on the news? I'm supposed to be going on a cruise with a friend to Alaska but now I'm thinking what if something like this happens to us? I don't know what I would do.

I've heard other stories of cruises gone wrong before, but that wouldn't keep me from going on one in the future.
My brother has been working on a cruise ship (not the one in the article) and has already been to all the countries so far that I want to visit. Lucky duck!
Thing is unexpected things happen all the time. Are you going to stop enjoying your life altogether then?

I haven't decided yet. However, my client's stepson is on that boat right now. I'm waiting for him to get back to get the real story from him. But I really think it's all depends on how you look at life. I'm sure there's people on the boat that look at this negatively, and others that look at it positively. Those that choose positive, are having a better time. :)

I don't like to be at middle of sea at night or even in broad daylight, it feel so empty and eery so this makes cruising not for me. I do like the idea of travels and cruiship is not so different with travelling on airplanes, it also has it's accidents but at least the travel is faster using the airplanes.

ctryhnny, you are definitely on to something. I've never been on a cruise, but I've always thought it would be awesome. My mother has always opposed the idea of a cruise and these recent events make her case more and more. i still want to try it some day, but i have to admit, seeing whats been happening does make me a little more hesitant!

How scary for those people. To be honest, I don't think this will deter me from going on a cruise, but it might make me a bit more aware and careful about choosing which cruise line.

First of all I think the News Media spent way too much time on this story. Just like with Katrina in New Orleans they help spread wild rumors. I heard the media report that people were being starving on the ship. Now we are getting reports from the passengers and most of them have reported it was inconvenient and uncomfortable but they were not suffering and did not feel in danger. Most have very positive reports on the behavior of the crew. This seemed to me to be more of news being created by the media rather than reporting the news.
How much did the reporting hurt an industry that has a good record for safety? I have been on a cruse and would go again. Just because there is a car accident in my community I don't stop driving.

This is an isolated and very rare event in the history of luxury cruising.
I think the cruise liner has to improve on the maintenance, and should not try to spare any expenses at all.
It is a lesson learnt that saving small money is not worthwhile.
Once this kind of news get out, it hurts all the cruise liners.

Things happen. There is always a risk doing anything. Somethings things go wrong and unfortuatlly it is a bad experience for some people but for other it is the best.
We see tragedies with planes but we dont stop traveling. Natural disasters around the world but that wont stop people from going on vacation there after.
It is just a matter of luck in a way.

Since I had a wonderful time on my previous cruise,I am hoping to go on an other one soon,I do not let myself to get discouraged because something like this happened.because of this, all the cruise ships will be even more careful, because they do not want to loose business, and the prices might even go lower.I am sorry for the passengers, but things happen, and at least they will be reimbursed, and can take an other vacation.
