Ok...it is said in Hindu sect that a Manglik girl has problems in marriage. Manglik means having Mars in your astrological house at the time of your birth.
So there was a time, when the girl would be married to a tree. Trust me this is still widely accepted ...and some famous educated people are believed to have resorted to it even in recent times.
Wouldnt marrying a human being after that amount to adultery? But that is another issue...poor tree does not have rights under Indian constitution...Dr. Ambedkar discriminated..
And then there are people who marry animals to atone for their sins...
If they kill a dog they marry a dog...
Can it get weirder than that?
So...what are the weird solutions to superstitions in your parts of the world...

Hello
I have heard those stories too but never seen by my self. That's sounds bit funny. But yes people believe such things. But I am glad that I have never be part of this, I mean in our area people don't believe such things. Well, actually they do believe few of them, but they don't go so far. I wonder if someday our country will able come out of it completely.

Hi bro
I have heard those stories too but never seen by my self.
Okay, send me your "kundali" and I will forge it to make you a Manglik. Then even change your gender and then you will ask the society to have you marry a Tree

Hi
yes there are many such weird superstitions i heard of. As you mentioned even the well educated people are following this kind of things. I remember when Bollywood actor got married there was the news in the media that as she is manglik she performed some special puja in varansi and also got married to some tree.(if i remember well) . If they are like that then what about the common man.

Actually, devadasi system is highly maligned I think. The basic intent was quite good in it. The system was meant to ensure that women who were unfortunate due to being raped within the family or outside did not become outcaste and left alone to fend for themselves. They tried to find a way for getting them back into the social structure by ensuring that one of the rich men provided for her upkeep. But as we all know...free lunches are not appreciated...so rich men started extracting their pound of flesh and it became closer to flesh trade or rather live in relationship type. Our ancestors meant well, but there are people who misused it and there were people who let such good objectives be sidelined. Not every custom is or was bad.

Hi Vandana,
I agree with you that these rituals don't have any logical explanation as of now (may be because our science is very primitive), however, if you go by Vedas, being a manglik and it's effects on an individuals married life can't be ignored.
As far as getting married to Animals is concerned, I've never heard of it so I would certainly not comment on that.
Check this link, this will clarify your doubts on how being manglik affects an individual and by no means it's superstition:

I would rather say, they never get married in the first place and actually, that's the fact. My comment was on the basis of my religion and with respect to my religion, all those pairs in western cultures never get married as per Hindu rituals and that's why their chances of getting separated is more.

And I never said, being Manglik causes divorce, the pair in that video is the best couple in human history as per Hindu religion, it's just that their married life was affected by external factors but because of their determination they dealt with it.

Hi,
I don't believe in superstitions. killing a poor dog for the solution is very unfair and inhuman. We are living in the modern world of technology. I am giving here the other superstition which is meaningless. When we are going for important work and if the cat crosses the road in front of us, the work can not be completed. So solution for this is to go back some steps along the road. I think it is the wastege of time and the ork can not be done by wasting time in doing this foolish things.

I think that superstition had something to do with Asthmatic attack. I mean, cat's hair does trigger that and therefore, in general, people were advised to avoid cat when they were moving out..ancient people had such cryptic way of saying somethings. Perhaps they were not really sure about such things that is why they offered solutions in subtle way so that people would follow them without questioning and remain safe and healthy.
