Don't bend over..

A cat on his back - Eclipse jumps on Javy's back

My cat Eclipse likes to jump up on your back if you bend over around him. Even if you just stoop a little bit.. One time I was slightly stooped trying to get some socks out of a drawer.. he was on the bed. Next thing I know he was on my back. It can be a bit of a pain sometimes.. because it's not easy to get him off since your arms don't reach around to your back. If nobody else is around you're pretty much stuck there until he feels like getting down. And he doesn't just sit there on your back. He'll actually lie down on your back and start rubbing his head on the back of your head, purring, and sometimes lick your hair. He especially loves my oldest son's hair. So the oldest was just sitting on the steps reading a book.. and next thing you know he's got a cat on his back! I wouldn't mind a lap cat.. but this is ridiculous! LOL Have you ever had a cat that liked to sit on your back?

I used to have 3 cats and they never sat on my back but they did like to climb into my lap. Now i have a shi tzu dog that likes to climb on any part of your body like your back or your stomach when laying down sometimes when i'm in bed my dog will lay on top of my head lol.

yeah, story goes they guarded the temple and the door was set so you either crouched down and shuffled in - IF you knew better, if you leaned over to get under the door, the cat would jump on your back and then the guards could catch you...

I know Siamese like to do that, actually they have kind of got it inbred to do so. I've had a few do it, I find if I then go and lay down and roll, the cat has to get off, but I totally agree, it is a PAIN! Rygel, the white eared cat in my avatar (don't be fooled by not having Siamese markings, he's got a LOT of Siamese in there) has done it more than once...

I suspect that the black cat, Eclipse I think you said, might well be part Siamese, lots of black cats are half Siamese...

I actually have a siamese myself.. but he has never done this. He's still kind of young though.

I never knew Siamese cats like to climb on your back. I had a friend that had 2 Siamese cats and i never saw or heard that they climbed on her back. Elic that was very interesting to know. Thanks for the info.

Not my back. My chest, my lap, under the covers, but not my back except occasionally when I'm sleeping. But I rarely sleep that way, usually on my back or my side.

I cannot sleep with cats in the room. Just can't do it!

I've got a cat who does the same. He's a nightmare, and if you try and stand up he just sticks his claws in to hold on.

Eclipse does that too.. he'll also reposition himself numerous times to avoid getting off. If I start to stand he'll go higher on my shoulders. If I bend forward more he'll go lower down my back. Little brat!

The newest addition to our family joined us back in October, her name is Itty Bitty and she is one of those cats that does like to jump onto your back when you are stooped over, and yes, I definitely do have to say that this is something that drives me nuts. I'm able to reach her when she is up there because of the fact that I'm quite flexible, but it is definitely uncomfortable for me because of the problems that I've been having with my back since I was involved in that car accident back in the summer.

That's so funny! I had a cat who'd like to tag along from one room to another on my back. It was cute! He was very careful not to scratch me which was a plus! :)

Eclipse doesn't scratch either.. not on purpose at least.

My sisters cat used to climb up on my shoulder and bat at my ear all the time and try to get the earring off....for some reason I was the only one that he did it to. She had another cat that was mean.....he would bite everyone...but me. When I would talk to her she would doze off..even sitting on a chair. I would say....oh Abby you are such a pretty kitty and her head would bob.....and she would fall asleep...of course I used a soft voice when I did it....my sister finally had to get rid of her because she bit everyone in the ankles.

Our kitten likes to run at you and grab your leg as you are walking out of a room. She also likes to jump up on the back of the computer chair and hang from the mesh, but only while you are leaning back in the chair. If you are leaning forward she will leave you alone.

I never heard of a back cat! Ya'll should try squatting down instead. Its bad on your backs health to always bend.
