Been less than a month since my last application of Frontline and I have to deal with fleas again. When I brought this matter to my vet (he was being groomed at that time), she recommended flea collars but I better cover my bases and ask for a flea and tick problem solution. Vet says I cannot apply anything on him (like Frontline or Advnatrix) for one month after the last application so I'm stuck removing those parasites when my dog starts scratching. I haven't used a flea collar I would like to know if they are really good for my dog for the time being. Won't be pleasant Valentine's Day if my dog keeps scratching something in his body.

Arrrgh! Those fleas are so annoying! I understand how you feel seeing your dog scratching all day long.
My wife also puts anti-fleas pipettes on our dog, and she also uses some other chemicals against fleas.
Our dog wears a flea-collar for over 5 month and she hasn't scratched during these months. The producer says the flea collar effect should last 6 months, so it has to be replaced soon.

well, you got me interested. do flea and tick collars lose effect if the dog gets his bath.? My vet mentioned that they are collars for varying lengths of time. Also, I'm curious if there are any side effects with respect to your dog .

The collar our dog wears does not have any restrictions when it comes to water. The dog can go swimming with the collar on, she can have as many baths as we like, the flea collar effect does not loose. But this is in theory. I don't know how effective it is during summer months, when the flea infestation is high. But I know it is quite expensive. My wife says it doesn't matter how expensive it is, as long as our dog is happy with it.
We didn't notice any negative aspects considering this flea collar. Unless we're talking about the collar's aspect... It is supposed to be white, but it turned grey over time. (you know you can't stop a dog rolling in mud or playing with other dogs...) Here's a picture of our dog with the flea collar on. You can see is isn't that white as it was supposed to be... http://www.magicaquarium.ro/concurs/binne-nr-concurs-17/
