Buy Filipino!

Okay so I'm doing this project for an animation competition and the theme is "buy Filipino" so I was wondering... Do you, not like most Filipinos, go against colonial mentality and support your fellow Filipino by patronizing our local products? Do you still believe in our very own products in spite of all the negative things we hear like local products are "low quality" or "second rate"? What kind of local products do you support? Food? Like dried mangoes, kapeng barako etc? How about clothes? Like that clothing brand named after something you can sit on How about personal hygiene products? Like that toothpaste whose name is synonymous with the word glad... What are your thoughts?

Good luck on this animation competition with a "Buy Filipino " theme. Being a Filipino, i know you are filled with ideas on how you can depict that. I do buy local products, usually the kakanins, handicraft products and foods, like dried mango, macapuno, buko tarts among others. Though, as i don't know some local products other than those above.

Mam, are you the one who asked about how to invest in the stock market in my other discussion? I think it violated the rules so they deleted it.

oh wow!! i am sure you would be able to nail this project. Just focus on your theme and concentrate to highlight those. I buy Local products too, sometimes i do so and i do not even realize they are locally made. he he My favorite are biscuits and they sure tastes great. The biscuits come in huge packaging, but there are small boxes (tin can). Hmm I have had a few clothes from the clothing brand you mentioned too,and I also buy local branded grocery items, such as peanut butter. I have tried the toothpaste but it did not work well and it wasn't really strong so i switched back hehe but if you do not like too much mint then it is good - it is a lot cheaper as well. Then there are those native products (which i am glad is already available in shopping malls) that are very worth buying. hmm they are really of good quality, and can be exported all over the world.

Your project should come out great and i like the idea that you are doing animation about something close to us and being a Filipino, this one is interesting enough. As for patronizing locally made products, i think and i can say that locally made goods are of good quality, high standards and of export quality. Filipinos nowaday are smart enough not to be using still colonial mentality, our views have now changed and yeah you can tell me one country that is exporting all their trash products at our disposal right? They are of the poorest quality and yet Filipinos buy them for cheaper prices, which is really rather sad. Those brands that you mentioned above are of good names and quality and we should patronize our own and be proud of it. I hope i get to see the result of your project when you share it here in mylot. Cheers kababayan!

Glad to see a fellow pinoy who no longer cares about colonial mentality, I do admit I still have some colonial mentality within me but I am trying hard to change that. I certainly wont forget to show my finished animation here, although I am not sure how I can do that. Can I post youtube links here?

Hi! I love your project. i would like to support you in any way I can. I am atrue blooded Pinoy local and abroad. I am living now in China but I buy Filipino products. We don't have much supply in the city I am presently residing but if I see a Philippine product I don't ignore it. I buy dried mangoes, canned goods, candies that have stamped "made in the Philippines." Oh, I don't care about what people say about the local products. I try it first and if it's good I buy and recommend. Yes, my family uses local toothpaste, not internationally branded clothes and other products. I have been meaning to promote Philippine tourism here if you'll look further into my discussions. But only a few responded. Maybe I am too serious. So, my fellow Filipino ... carry on.
