I am very worried right now I just at this very minute got shocking news. First of all everyone who knows me knows that I have diabetes. Then, I had to go for an ultra-sound and they found I have fatty liver disease. But the technician who did the ultra sound says the edges of my liver is irregular. It is just a question at this point but she is wondering if I may have cirrohis of the liver. I don't know how that could be, I don't drink. So I am worried.
I will have to go to a gastroenterologist to find out more. I repeat it is just a question right now, but when you first get any news like this it is scary.
any thoughts

I do hope you are better. I get alot of information off of webmd on the internet so do alot of doctors, check it out when you can. I also say sometimes it is always good to get two people to talk about this and see if both agree the same. keep in touch I hope all is better . I never heard of fatty liver disease.. but guess all have differant ways of saying what think something is. I would keep checking things out more clearly and tell them quit guessing you need to find out more info.

I have fatty liver disease that is for sure, they are guessing but will not have an answer until I get the new test, that is how medicine works, until the test come in to confirm the presence of a disease it is a medical guess.

I think it is mean for these techs that do the tests to tell us about possibilities that may or may not even be true. Mere questions can cause a patient alot of stress and strain than need not happen if they would keep their mouths shut. Maybe it hasn't been just diabetis that is making you feel so sluggish lately. I will be very interested in hearing what the gastroenterologist has to say. Scary indeed. I wish you the best.

I think it is very professional of the tech, it has to be checked out, what if I have it and the tech didn't say a word and I die from it? I believe in checking everything out.

I disagree! The tech is there to do the test, not diagnose you. Its the doctors job to diagnose and discuss it with you.

Sorry to hear your news.I've read that a person that has diabetes is twice as likely to to have a liver disease as well. The out of control blood surgar increases your risk for nonalcholic fatty liver disease. Best of Luck with future tests and results.
I hope you feel better soon.

Cirrhosis and diabetes are linked, something to do with how your body processes sugar. I hope you get things looked after and under control.

It's a rotten disease. My mom had pretty much every complication from it too, but luckily she didn't have to undergo amputation.

i'm pretty sure that diabetes is a condition and not a disease, because my father and sister have type 1 diabetes and you have to consider that it is the fact that insulin production either stops or is not as effective. you have to remember that diseases are usually infectious and the fact is that diabetes can easily be caused during a time of illness when your white blood cells attack the insulin producing cells.

Avoid getting stressed, I know it's difficult, but stop worrying about it because it could make the condition worse. Pray to God, whatever your religion is just pray, God will listen. Do what you have to do, just eat healthy, and do what the doctor advise you to help you get better. And also seek comfort from your family and friends, and ask them to pray for you as well. I'm sure they'd be glad to help you.

You have to have positive thoughts. Follow everything the doctor tells you to do.Do the things that you enjoy doing, Carol--- like your writing. this will help you keep your mind occupied. Keep up with your friendsand family. Call them or send them E-Mail messages. I care about you a lot, and I hope everything will not be serious.

Personally I have been diagnosed with this one before. It was something that actually was never anything to worry about, and depending on who is doing the Tests there can be a lot of False negatives out there as well. I would think if you are being sent to the right type of doctor who deals with these things, there might be things they can suggest to help this. Many times, it could be just changing some of the things we eat, etc. But hopefully for you, this will be nothing serious.

Yes, but there are a lot of times, especially now that they try to scare people without first proving it is actually is something to worry about. I would just wait it out and get the test done, and from there. Praying for the best.

fatty liver can be reversed, I have the fatty liver, it is the cirrhosis if I have it which I am going to be tested to see, cannot be reversed. It is permanent scarring of the liver.

I'm so sorry to hear of your scare. We have been having some health scares with my husband recently, and it can be so stressful! I hope everything will come out okay for you. I guess the best thing to do is try to stay as relaxed as possible (not easy, I know!) and lean on God for strength. I will pray for good results for you!

hi winterrose I read someplace but do not know where that some fatty liver conditions can be overturned so lets hope if you are diagnosed with it that the right treatment will reverse it in time. I am also diabetic and I guess that puts us at a greater risk for some types of things. Do not stress it but wait and see what you really have and i do hope it will be reversible and easily treated .let us know please. Pray and just keep calm now.I will also pray for you and hope other myltters will join me too.

I also have a fatty liver winterose. AT first i don't want to buy the medicines because they are just supplements for the liver to flush out the fats.
But my medical student daughter said that i should follow what the doctor because if i don't treat it it might lead to cirrhosis of the liver.
That scared me , so i bought the medicines right away, even if they are costly.
In your case, don't worry winterose because there are medical ways to treat it if it's on its early stage.

Stress and worry can aggravate a disease more. As long as you feel fine and strong there is still something you can do. Confirm the disease and the stage as well. Moreover a positive mind can help change the course of your health problems.

Hi carol, I was surprised to see you on Mylot. this is Harriet Steinberg "talking" to you. I hope you do't have cirrohis of the liver. Yes, my daughter is very overweight and seems to have a hard time getting it off. She's 43 years old. She's always tired and therefore does not exercise too much. Good to know that you are on Mylot. Hope to hear some better news from you.

You have to be strong and do not think ahead of anything just go to a doctor and know what is your real sickness and so that he can prescribe medicine. Do not be in panic too and pray real hard. God is good and He hears those who seek and call on Him.

being obese human or cat can cause fatty liver disease, the reason I have it is obesity and diabetes.

Hi Winter,
I am very sorry to hear this.I have been through that feeling. Back when I first got diagnosed with cancer, I was devastated. I could not wait for my procedure to remove it and it felt like it took forever. In the meantime, it was the not knowing that just drove me nuts. I imagined it spreading like wild fire through my body. In my case, all turned out well and I really hope it does for you too. I can only imagine how scared and devestated you are right now. Please keep us posted on this. We all love and care for you!!{{{HUGS}}}}

When you heard about yours u also got scared i think, but that wont work u will have to go for a better treatment and do it fast. Dont worry, be bold everything will be fine. Have a nice day.

Yes it's scary and sorry for such bad news. My mother is in the same boat you are and at our urging has finally went to a nutritionist to get a handle on it. She is in the early stages so this is her first steps at getting everything under control.
It isn't easy for her and she struggles with the complete change in her world right now. Yes it is scary, but also there is some good news that it is caught early too. Find the positive in it and go from there. :-)

Big hugs to you, winterose. I know news like that is shocking - then all the whys and hows and unknowns come to mind. But like you said, it's just a question right now . . . so keep strong and keep positive thoughts. When things like that happen to me, I tend to go all over the place online to find and read whatever I can just to prepare myself (it actually puts my mind at ease to feed my mind on the possibilities so that I can ask the doctors "better" questions and possibly soak in what the doctor is talking about . . . it's better than waiting and wondering - to me). Sending healthy vibes out your way!!
